I have used it for carp for well over 10 yrs, with great success. Just tie them in a little larger size (4-6), use some burnt orange dubbing, add a little bit of rubber legs and use lead dumb-bell eyes to make it ride hook up and you have a winning variation of the original Briminator.

Tony, glad you posted the origin of the Brimanator and well deserved credit for development. I discovered the bug a couple of years ago at the Red River Fly Club Tie In meeting at lake Texoma, when Kelly tied a few for me.

Tremendous little pond fly for sunfish, and larger versions for bass, hybrids and carp. I take all kind of liberties with the pattern , but thats just me!
I tie with 60 degree bend #4 jig hooks for "hook point up" wooly bugger versions for larger species.
I dont tie on hooks smaller than # 6 or 8s - dont like gill hooked or gut hooked fish.

Thanks for your post.

Thanks Tony, I actually used that link to tie my Briminators. I showed the members of our fly club how to tie the Briminator today. Their response was "No wonder you have been catching all those fish, that is a great looking fly".

Once again Congrats and I applaud you for a great creation. clap

Easy, just do a really poor job of tying you next fly, cast it like a 3 year old with a cane pole and hope for dumb luck, LOL!!

Tony, I was very pleased to discover the "originator" of the Brimanator!
You should get your great fly pattern published - Dan Blanton Bulletin Board would be a good place to start in order to be recognized outside of regional popularity.

He published one of my flies some 15 years ago and was published or referended to by several national known fly fishing magazines - even one in Ausstralia.
http://www.danblanton.com/blog/category/authors/george-glazener/

I sugested to Dusty Abney (Txredraider) to submit his fly and as result it has been widely accepted - really good up-side-down frog top water deer hair bug.

Thanks for sharing.

Tony was not the original tied using one feather?
The tail a pinch of fluff the body dubbed from the rest of the fluff then finished off with the tip for the hackle?

The video link shows the body being tied with "foreign" material. grin

Yes, it was used with only one pheasant "Church Window" feather.
...but that was mainly because I am a cheap __________. smile

The best cheap move you ever made, thanks for the reply.
Original for me is the best, do not mind in different colors though.

Well, it was another great weekend with temperatures in low 80s. The bass fishing is really starting to pick up. I was even able to catch a few on topwater. I fished with several big bass lures and big flies and caught a lot fish. But by far the most productive was the Briminator again. I caught more quality bass off the briminator than I did with a spook, spro frog, woolly bugger, plastic worm, etc. I'm not sure it this time of year the bass prefer smaller baits but it sure seemed that way.

I made a pass around the pond fishing the edges of the weedline and caught several bass and a few bluegill. Then I decided to try in deeper water with the Briminator. I would throw it out into deeper water and let it sink without movement. As soon as the line twitched I would set the hook. That was the ticket for the day. I started catching bluegill on almost every cast. And finally I caught one that measured 10 inches. banana
