Well, third time I've heard that. Guess that's what I will do. Not sure why trailer came equipped with them to start with but, I didn't buy it new.
LOL, no good Lord at my age, only place I'm ever going to go 80mph is to a hospital!
Thanks pardner...appreciate your reply

These are most likely surge brakes, unless you see an electronic actuator on the trailer...If the trailer tongue moves in and out while driving and braking, these are surge brakes...could prolly just flush them and replace the lines...lines may be gummed up, especially if your able to actuate the brakes at the tongue and get no fluid out of them...

Thanks Frank and Snake.
Guess going to get it drilled and pinned and just be done with it. When I'm gone, next owner can fool with it if they want to.....LOL, hope that's a long way off.
God Bless, ya'll have a great day. Do appreciate the good and rapid replies...

McGill propeller and welding in Lewisville does boat trailer brake work. Have used them for years. Good work and affordable prices.

Lee, I agree with the gents above, no faster than you drive and the weight of your boat you really do not need trailer brakes. Most 17', 18' boats are not even equipped with them or do not work after several years, I have a 18'8" skeeter and it does not have brakes. It looks like you have a full size pick up in your sig, if you were using a smaller pick up, or racing to the ramp, brakes would probably be needed. Just my opinion.

I have a 17 ft boat and no brakes on the trailer. I have a Dodge 1500 and have never felt that the boat and trailer are too much to stop. And I have had to hit the brakes a few times and didn't feel like the boat was pushing me too hard.

The pin on your round connector is the reverse override. It may just be a simple wiring issue with the purple connection at the tongue shorting.

I pull my single axle Triton (about the same package weight as your's) without brakes. It is a little iffy for really high speeds in my Escape. You should be fine without them in that beheometh of a truck!

Here is a shot in the dark, have you tested it hooked up to a different vehicle? Do you have any problems with your reverse light on your truck staying on when the truck is in gear?

Morning, ok will do. Wish I could have but, had to buy what could afford. Only real regret was wish I had more engine. One of the new Evinrude ETEC 135HP would be great but, water under the bridge.
God Bless
