Fishing has been bad every where. I went to :ake of the pines and zeroed there. Only one person I talked to had caught one fish. Now I dont feel so bad as I was wishing I stayed home and went to Athens. Sounds like I would have had the same results.

Just the time of year that you hope you might catch that one big one. I will say I wasn't expecting Athens to be so slow. It's got tons of grass which is a big plus for a winter lake. We threw slugos, traps, shakey heads, t-rigs, a-rigs, spoons, and jerk baits. Nothing worked.

Everyone gets itchy to get out early in the year and I think we all tend to try to rush the spawn/prespawn. Reality is that fishing is somewhere between slow and terrible for most people when water temperatures are in the mid 40s or lower.

Fished athens friday and gilmer sunday and didn't get a bite on either all day.
