Yuck that water is still muddy. Wonder if it will be worth trying to fish this weekend?

Last year the water level was exactly the same, although much cleaner.
now would be a good time to go for a walk & understand the water.......

pray for rain!

Looks like the run will happen, the water looks the same as it did last year. It might be too cold at the moment for the fish to be active but there should be some in there already. Couple more weeks of warm weather and we'll have full stringers.

Alton update:

They're not there yet. spent a couple hours yesterday working on down past where
the tires were all over the bank. caught 3 baby sandies that probably didn't
make 12" between all of them!
Need rain & 50 deg. water, probably 2-3 weeks yet. The lake is in much better shape than last year already, so I'd guess if we can get another inch or 2 of rain
there will be a lot more active creeks this year.

I had my bass boat back there last year. It was a pain but I made it happen. A foot more of water and we are in business.

update to my update:

Got poison oak on my arm, bumps came up yesterday.
most likely from hauling some pecan deadfall out for my smoker
I get it every year doing this thing, but not before the fish start running!
Washed w/ Tecnu & only 1 new bump this AM, re washed & should be good.
wear shirtsleeves!

My friend with the kayak has been catching fish. Several keepers and several small ones. Looks like its getting good.

Are you referring to Marshall creek off 377 in Roanoke?

Lite-liner has a great point.
I have walked my home lake backwards and forwards when it was at low drought levels.
Now guess who knows where the fish are when the water is higher.
