If it does effect them in anyway, shape or form, imagine what those bass in California must be going through. That state is shaking 24/7.

I once heard some guys talking who had been at Mammoth Lake in California, when a small earthquake hit. They said the trout were jumping out of the water. (The guys were on the shore.)

The all head for the nearest doorway, too busy saving themselves to notice lures.

Look at Bachman. It's right next door. Haha. See if the water level is changing. Or look for bubbles or "Transformers" rising up from the depths like a scifi movie. Lol.

Shakey Heads - size your hook to the quake magnitude - 3.0 quake = 3-0 hook (round up)!

I think that they probably are affected very little. The lake bed shaking doesn't move the water much at all. Of course I could be dead wrong, too. Guess you should ask fishermen from Californicate.

I was on Castaic lake when an aftershock from the Northridge quake hit. It was about a 3.0. Sounded like someone rapping on the bottom of the boat. Pop Pop. As far as I could tell it didn't affect the fish.

Animals tend to know before a quake happens and they freak out. I'm sure fish do the same thing. The Japan and Indonesia earthquakes caused dead fish to wash up that are normally thousands of feet deep.

Those deep-water fish probably were not affected much by the earthquake itself, but rather were killed or stunned by an underwater landslide that was directly caused by the earthquake (These are also what cause tsunamis). Do a little experiment. Take a drinking glass and fill it 2/3 full of water. Put a small piece of eggshell into the water and get it to sink below the surface. Then, before it can sink all the way to the bottom of the glass, jiggle the glass like an earthquake would. The water's surface will ripple (like waves), but the eggshell piece moves hardly at all. This, on a larger scale, is what happens to a lake or ocean in an earthquake, and why fish probably aren't affected directly by an earthquake. Just my opinion, of course.
