Spybait has been difficult to say the least.. I'm not giving up though I've caught some monsters on it but not consistently. Winter should prove better with the fish suspended more. Idk time will tell

My confidence in moving baits is lower than most guys on this forum it would seem. I've always said that per man hours fished, I've caught the lowest percentage of fish on spinnerbaits, followed by cranks. I don't feel like I do anything different than the obvious or the next guy, but just haven't built confidence in them. I rely on soft plastics, rigged just about any way, but would like to get better with moving baits for those days when water needs to be covered.

This is very true for me as well though I ironically spend all of my time now trying to be more productive with cranks. I feel I have pretty well mastered the bladed jig which is my go to moving bait. I can cover a ton of water and this is usually the bait that boats kicker fish for us. I feel like I can fish it better and more productively than other people can. I keep waiting for crankbaits to give me that confidence... I think I am slowly but surely weeding out a few I really like throwing, and that is helping regardless of catch rate. I also wish I had the success with jigs I have with Texas rigged plastics but the catch rate is far lower for me on jigs, save for bladed/swim jigs. I am worthless with conventional jigs but a hero with a Texas rig. I have been intentionally devoting more ad more time on the water throwing other baits but then I find myself more and more frustrated with lack of success.... so I try to get on a good bite with techniques and baits I know I can work well, and then swap to another technique or bait when suitable to practice it when I know I'm on bite. That way I am only building confidence, without all of the dead time before hand, because at one point in my life I had no confidence built up in anything, and that's how you get there. All of that said, I'll be out trying to cash checks at BLT, which means a lot of my favorite plastics/presentations are going to be used a lot more than random baits I don't feel like I've mastered. Fun fishing is one thing, but making myself use something that hasn't been as productive when I'm racing the clock to weigh in time... entirely different ball game. Gotta keep pushing myself to be more versatile in fun fishing and practice days though so I grow as an angler though. I know other people succeed with them, so I want to be at least proficient with other techniques for when my mastered techniques won't get em!

My weakness is I spend more time running and looking than actual fishing. Seems like I fished a lot more when I had a small boat and motor. Knew it would take awhile to run so I stayed where I was.

Pretty much everything BUT, sure is relaxing and fun to be out on the waters here in Texas! Love it....got the 'fishing' part down, now....to tune my 'catching' skills....

I'm shocked at all the Drop Shots! One of the simplest techniques!! I guess ppl way overthink it I think it's a confidence thing. If you try it a few times and don't catch much on it, you're going to stop trying it and it becomes a "weakness". I personally have fished it probably a half dozen times and never caught a fish on it.

Im surprised at the # of jig responses. No wrong way to fish it and catches bigger than average fish for me in most cases.
