This is a tough one, but which store do yall prefer over the other? Me personally, I really like Academy. Bps is good, but choosing one over the other I'd go academy

Academy is shrinking their fishing sections and BPS continues to push more soft goods and their own private label stuff. North/East Texas is loaded with local shops that carry great selections of stuff I actually want to fish with. APT, Fun N Sun, Fishin' World, Brannan's, Oak Ridge, LFM and several others that I am forgetting...support your local fishing dealer.

I voted Academy because there isn't a bass pro within a 3 hour drive from my house. But I did most of my buying this year at Tackle Warehouse

I much perfer Acadmey over Bass Pro. The drive through the metro mess isn't worth the trip to Bass Pro and Acadmeys prices are much better, although I have noticed that Acadmey's selection is getting worse. They seem more intrested in other sports or running shoes than fishing anymore. I will give them credit though, I went into the Cherry Lane Acadmey a few weeks ago and the isles were nearly empty in the fishing section. when they gave me my reciept they asked me to take an online survey. I gave them a scathing review. I went in the next week to see if anything had changed and to my surprise they had the section fully stocked and properly tagged.

Voted Academy but mostly because Bass Pro hasn't opened its store here in Austin yet. Right now it would be Cabela's for me over Academy for the hard to find stuff, and Academy for general plastics. TW for most other stuff.

I like both and shop at both but would vote BPS on selection alone but agree they are higher in price for a lot of items. That said even Walmart is getting pretty high on tackle prices.

I don't like the direction both Academy and BPS are going.....Sure they have to push their own brand, but, here in East Tennessee, our Academy stores are dropping most of the name brand rods, the reels are sure to follow then the tackle.....the local BassPro....is ALWAYS out of stock.....my UPS driver & I are on a 1st name basis, lately....I think the neighbors are beginning to talk.....LOL.....

Although Academy's prices are better, the help at the one in Mesquite is nearly useless and it's much further away. BPS employees are always friendly, usually know what they're talking about, and BPS has lots of stuff that Academy doesn't.

Too many times, I've driven to BPS if Academy didn't have it ; and BPS didn't have it either. If they don't have it at Academy (some Academies are better than others), I'll go online.

I like them each for different things. You can't beat Academy's prices but they don't have near the selection the BPS has. I get what I can from Academy then go to BPS for the rest. It also helps that Academy is a mile from the house where BPS is about 8 miles

I'm fortunate to have both here by the house, but it really comes down to what you plan on buying and when things are on sale. Like buying flukes at BPS last night. Normally I would get them at academy but academy doesnt have as many colors as BPS has. On top of that, BPS is running a 15% sale on ZOOM products.

Also depends on which gift cards I have.

Academy is really getting bad, they have the same stuff everytime you go, nothing new is ever
on the shelves.
