I've learned that missing a good opportunity to fish, in order to keep your wife happy, is the best choice! But dang, it's hard to do.
Had to do that yesterday and just look at the conditions today! cry

P.M. me or visit http://www.rockwalltint.com for info on upholstery or window tint.
Happy fishing!
God bless

Find the active fish...if I don't get bit in the first 5 minutes, I'm outta there and moving on. I'll try several different colors and types in that time. I may come back later and try the spot again.

I learnt to appreciate each day you get to fish, as you don't know when life will prevent you from fishing.

Amen to that.

Something else I've learned about colors is that the same colors don't necessarily work as well in a different bait. My old go-to colors for tubes don't seem to be the best colors for the shad-like plastics I'm making now at all. Figuring out what colors I want to carry now is a project for 2015.

I learned that I am a tackle Ho!

I hardly fish plastics and I am looking at BPS site right now to buy 10 colors of BG Baby shad swim'Rs and some of Lane's thump chubbies. Everyone just has to come up with new lures!

I've learned a lot.

A few years back when I first wanted to learn how to target crappie specifically I turned to TFF. What a great forum I found lots of people willing to share info, stories, and pics of their outings. With out a doubt my learning curve was drastically shortened due to the high amount of quality knowledge on this site/section. I've been a member of TFF for a while now and have watched a bunch of people "change", "clique up", and it really is SAD to see.

I see a lot of people only comment on their buddies threads, hate on others because of their "pro staff" affiliations, and pick on each other like grade school girls (some of you might be..) It really doesn't feel the same anymore, one of the reasons I quit posting and sharing my stories with the community.

I'm hoping that 2015 brings a year where we let the past go, set our personal differences aside, maybe take someone new fishing, and return this forum to it's former glory.

I am NOT talking about everybody that posts/comments/lurks here. I still believe 95% of the people here are A okay. Here's to another NEW YEAR!!

SORRY for the "rant" I wish you all full baskets and lots of thumps this year!!

For comparison, here's the tackle collection I carry. As I mentioned before, the colors of my new baits are a work in process, so that part of the box will change, but I don't anticipate carrying any more than this. Those zip lock bags contain tubes, and the folded up paper near the bobbers? My fishing license, of course.

Those black-looking baits in the top center are actually a dark gray (not sure why they look so black in this photo), very similar to Lane's Shadaboy color, except with more of a pearl finish. They and the pearl chartreuse pepper have been my best two colors so far.

Yesterday was the first day I've tried those other three chartreuse baits, and the darker one at the upper left caught fish well. The other lighter chartreuse baits will likely do better on bright days, though I'm not sure I'll keep both. One is a pearl finish with glitter, and the other is just plain chartreuse.

Those smoke glitter baits in the center haven't worked well so far. It was a great color for me for tubes, but my medium shad color in this new bait will probably be something else. The lighter shad color beneath them has no color added at all, just pearl and hilite and glitter added to the plastisol. I really haven't tried them yet.

The two zip lock bags of tubes will likely end up moved to the larger backup zip lock bag of stuff I carry, so I'll have nine spots in this box for my new shad baits. I'm planning on adding a pumpkin (or some kind of brown) bait, and I'm not sure yet what the other colors will be, but I've never been one to carry massive amounts of baits, so the nine colors that end up in this box will likely be all I fish with, with an occasional exception for tubes, mainly during shallow bobber fishing time, I suspect. One of those jig sections in this box contains tube jig heads, and the other two are the pill head jigs I use the rest of the time.

I hear what you're saying, Matt. Back when I made the switch from bass to crappie, some of the regulars in this forum were so obnoxious that I did most of my crappie learning elsewhere. Any time you have three or more people, there will be politics and cliques. These days, I just read what I want to read and don't worry too much about the rest of it. There are some great people here, and I've definitely enjoyed meeting some in person.
