Just wondering everybody's opinion on who they think is the best Lake Fork guide (customer service, knowledge, and likability). I've tried a few and haven't been overly impressed. Want to go with a different guide this year. Please no sales pitches, just opinions.

There is no best. Do your homework. Call them and let them know what your expectations are. Pick one and go fish.

No such thing as "Best" guide on Fork. There are a bunch of great guides on Fork. Just ask the forum for a recomendation for a quality guide and you will get plenty of feed back!

There is a good reason that 10-12 of them stay booked almost year round with many repeat customers. That alone says all you need to know. Says a lot about them.

I know when I am on the water I see guys like Vick, Pack, Caldemayer, Grills, Hoffman, Rogers, Carter, Paris, Mitchell among others that are always fishing with customers in the boat. there are more and rather than slighting anyone by accident I would urge you to do some research, call a few of them and see if they fit your needs.

Since I'm not a guide at Fork, I will chime in and give you a guides point of view to you, I would ask you what your wants/needs are to help you figure out what you're looking for? If your wanting to learn certain techniques, ask each guide what they feel their best strength is so you can learn as much as possible each time you go with them. If your wanting to gain seasonal and feeding pattern knowledge, ask each guide what pattern they are on so you can match what you want to do to their current pattern of fishing. If your hoping to match up to a certain personality, that's only gonna be accomplished by using different guides. If your wanting to catch a PB or the most fish as possible, well, that's just part of fishing and I imagine every guide on any body of water wishes it was that easy every day on the water.

If your not satisfied with the previous guides you've used, talk to them. I would want to know if my client wasn't satisfied with my service and make it right or at least be given the opportunity to meet your needs. If you have a preconceived idea of what your wanting from your selected guide but haven't informed him of your expectations, then that's kinda on you for not giving him the opportunity to service your specific needs.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you find the guide and experience you're looking for.

Brian Parker

I have often said on threads with this title....Its like picking the hottest chick in Playboy, but the above sums it up a little better. Well said Mark!

I should rephrase my choice of words and change the word "best" guide to recommended guide. I really intended to get personal recommendations rather than "do your homework" responses. My fault for poor choice of words. I've done my homework for the past three years and thought the forum might have more helpful advice.

There are some names given. Its up to you to call and see which one fits your needs. What we might consider the best to us might differ from you.
