I know the colder the water the longer you're supposed to wait between jerks- 20, maybe 30 sec between twitches. I can't make myself do that, tried but I just don't have that kind of patience. 10 sec seems like an eternity.
Does anybody here really work a jerkbait that slow?

I have been getting my bites at about 5 second pause sometimes less I have found counting it in your head makes the time go by, water temp has been 48-54 depending on the day where I'm fishing.

I love Jerkbaits but I'm not waiting 25-30 seconds for each twitch... If its that slow, Im soaking a jig. With that said, just because the water is cold, does noy always equal a slow retrieve.

5-10 seconds is about as long as I pause it. If the bite is that slow, I flip a jig or go home.

If u look up a lot of videos ppl/pros rarely pause that long! Ive caught a ton of fish on jerbaits and rarely let the bait sit longer than 10 seconds. Its more like 5-7 seconds. But then again i target places where the fish are feeding.

With your last name I'm surprised. Ha. Witty. In all seriousness, I start with faster retrieves, but if I'm not picking up any fish, ill slow down. I want to move as fast as I can to cover water, and find fish, but like I said, if I'm not picking up any fish, I start to slow my retrieve until I figure something out.

Man. I must be doing it all WRONG! HAha. I jerk and twitch it almost constantly. Maybe that's why I have 40+ jig combos and two jerk baits. Hah. I have ADHD so waiting for even a few seconds seems like an eternity!

On the same day that letting my jerkbait sit is a good pattern I also catch em burning a rattle trap. Go figure?

Spoonbill rouge pull stop 3 count repeat. Tight grip. Without modifications, the floating rogues do come up to the surface quickly, so you do have to fish them faster than most jerk baits. Good choice while the water temps are still above 45 deg and great over grass that is 3-4 feet below the surface. They don't cast as far as other jerk baits, but a good option for those with ADHD.

Bout 10 secs is the longest I pause even in really cold water. Seems like an eternity tho. Try this.. Rod in one hand and a drink in the other.

I'm no authority on jerkbaits, but I've had relative success with them and I dang sure don't wait that long! I may give a few very light but deliberate twitches before working the bait again.. Just enough to maybe entice an uncommitted girl to hop on it!
