I never made it! I called the Alibates Office last wednesday to confirm my Friday reservation and they said they were having record low temps and I should stay home. E-mailed Bernice at Palo Duro about burn bans and she also recommended I stay home unless I was a penguin. Will probably try again next fall. I ended up camping on the back 40 of my property in Kaufman County. Still froze my azz off. Hey KJ, are you the one who had the epic thread in the OT awhile back? About some room mates?

Sorry you didn't make it. Probably was the safe thing, and yeah, I had the two young female ex-cons staying with me a while.

Yeah my timing was way off. Think I'll try again next fall. I'm thinking october. That's usually a pretty friendly month, weather wise. I'm gonna stick around these parts through the spring and get in on the spawns, then maybe hit the coast once or twice in the summer, and If I ain't drowned myself or got eaten by a shark, I'll head up there in the fall. Want to see some wide open spaces and antelopes.

Spring and fall are nice in the Panhandle , Summers are hot ( dry heat ) and winters are cold.
Palo Duro is a neat trip, must see the " Play "
The Museum in Canyon is worth the stop.

Thanks Mo. I think I'll take a whole week off so I can do more and not have to rush. Who knows If I'd ever make back up there again.Heck, maybe I'll take two weeks and shoot over to Colorado and see the Rockies. Never seen 'em, always wanted to.

Check out Cimarron Canyon , NM. Not a bad drive once you are in the Panhandle , 1/2 the distance to Colorado.
Streams and gravel pit lakes to fish, not far from Eagles Nest and Red River.
