Let's see, through my many years of fishing I've had Mitchells (still have 2 mint condition old 300's with nylon gears), Us Reels, Okumas, Zebco (many models), Shakespere, Daiwa, Abu Garcia, Fin Nor, Wave Spin and some off brand spinning reels. The newer Shimanos with spool redesign and larger bail mechanism actually almost stop line twist and loops which are a pain in the patoosh. The old Sustains which I have 2 do not fish as well as the newer lesser expensive Shimano models. Just trying to help here. I see guys all the time messing with gear and not fishing while I'm catching and they wonder how I catch so many fish. Let's see, 50 casts or 300 casts? It's not rocket science. I do respect other opinions especially Ketchn's. I think I could learn something fishing with him.

I have 3 of those. No comparison.

No comparison from what to what? I was looking at the presidents. Seem to be light and have good reviews

IMHO, a smooth drag is where it's at, with light line. I fish braid / flouro leader with zero stretch. How good is the drag system in the Okuma top shelf model. I have a need for a new reel as well.

For what it's worth, I am putting in a Christmas Wish list request for the Pflueger President 6925x for my new crappie reel. Plan to put it on a Pro Angler 6.5 or 8 foot rod (which is also on my Christmas wish list, lol). Will probably go with the 6.5 foot rod though, because when I held the Pflueger President 6925x reel in my hand at Bass Pro Shops today, it is pretty small (which I want) and I think I'm going to run into balance issues with it on the 8 foot rod.

I also have a Pflueger President 6940x reel for pond bass fishing, and I am very happy with it.

I have mostly Shimano reel! Some are 10 years old. The Saros or Symetre 2500 will do great for the type of fishing we do! The 1000 series do just as fine of a job also.

I like the looks of both the saros and symetre fl. The symetre is a very light reel
