Yeah fires me up. We have a lot of nice lakes and ponds down this way that are littered with trash. Seems to be more prevalent in the poorer economic areas, although I have found litter in other places.
It was a different world when we were boys and girls....

I would suggest then if you have such a problem with it to get involved in help cleaning it up. Trinity River authority holds a "trash bash" a few times a year I think where a bunch of volunteers do nothing but go around and pick up trash. Bitching to the people on here (that are most likely NOT leaving trash) will get you pretty much no where.

I agree with the OP about the trash situation. I fish a pond where it's not easily accessible, and find beer bottles and cans, plastic water and other bottles, etc. The only way this stuff got where it is (on the bank and otherwise) is from the people coming in to fish this pond. There was even a dilapidated fold up stadium chair that someone left behind after it broke or was not usable by them any longer.
I also feel the same way about cigarettes. Cigs don't belong on our land or in our waterways. Bring a bottle or something you can dispose of them with. Just sayin'..........

I make sure to take a trash bag with me just to pick up what I can were I fish and I have found its mostly teens who use fishing holes as party spot's that leave beer bottles and cans most of us who bank fish protect our spots since there are not a whole lot of good banks to fish

One of the things the City of Dallas finally got around to on White Rock Creek is putting trash cans all up and down the creek channel. Now it remains to be seen if they will be used

Well the kind of people that join these forums are usually sportsmen and what I mean by that is folks that care about the enviroment because we know if we dont it wont be there long for us to continue to use. That being said I was at White Rock a few weeks ago and saw this one little guy sitting there drinking beer while fishing and every time he finished one he would throw it in the bushes and he was actually sitting by one of the new cans . I made of point of tripping over his bucket when i went to retrieve his cans . ![mad mad](/forums/images/graemlins/default/mad.gif)

Just a hit and run by Walleyhunter? Never came back to chime in on the responses he got, just blames everyone in the bank fishing section and then peaces out?

In addition to being a recreational bank fisherman, I'm also a Cub Scout Den Leader. As part of the curriculum of teaching these boys, I stress the 'Leave No Trace' policy. My goal (and if I've taught the boys correcly, their goal) is to leave a spot better than you found it.
Think about that for a second.
If we taught this one practice to enough people, the 'good guys' would be able to help neutralize the impact of those folks that don't give a damn. I always try to leave a spot better than I found it. I hope my Scouts remember that lesson into their adult years.

I have seen a good fishing hole closed because people trashing it up. Hurts everybody.
