Can't please everyone and the Federation's job is not here to please clubs. This is a pathway to the classic and is truly for the weekend angler. If you are better than club guys go fish Weekender Series or Opens. These events are for guys that want more than just a club and some competition.

This is why we have put out the schedule early. Most clubs in N. Texas are not that flexible in their schedules. We are looking at what you are doing and that is why schedule is out early this year. Also, you guys have 2 great lakes to fish within driving distance. We're competing with several circuits and have to travel 120 + miles to fish our events. Send me a PM - I'll chat with you on some advice since you want to put in your 2 cents.

Don't take your displeasure out on everyone. There will be more involvement than previous years with more sponsorship and giveaway opportunities for participants. The best way to show your displeasure is not fish as you have decided not to because you may have to eat your words when you come back. The objective is to get as large as SE region - it takes change, time, and a few positive people. At this point, its best that you move on.

Well said - too many guys just want to fish, when they don't do well leave at weigh-in, and then bad mouth a tournament circuit. The federation is a grass roots opportunity for those who want to advance through the ranks. This circuit is not for the weekend pros who want to collect a paycheck that is why BASS originally set up the affiliated club rule. This is another reason why NE has struggled way to many complainers not enough participants.

Ill take the Missouri approach - Your going to have to show me. I haven't fished the Federation in 3 years because of the approach of the director, your comments are like 2 more years of Obama like administration.

If the region is not here to serve the clubs maybe all the clubs need to not be TBN federated clubs and lets see how that goes for the region. Seems like one of the largest clubs jumped ship this year and another 100% TBN club is not fishing the region trail, it seems that some clubs are speaking but no one is listening.

Good luck with the growth, I'll monitor it and comment as needed if / when there are any Federation meetings/calls.

Eat my words about what?

Good luck Jason - I hope I am wrong.....

Well now hold on there. I have my home lake in our back yard, every other tournament we fish is a travel event for us Livingston being the closest (to me) and still a hour away. I am sure you are talking about Rayburn and TBend which are 2.5 and 3.5 hours away...Then we have Coletto (3hrs) and Belton (2.5hrs)so it isn't like our participation is because we draw from around Rayburn and Tbend. The majority of our membership resides in the Houston area which is a central location, meaning that almost 70% of our anglers are traveling at LEAST the same amount of time as I am.

Now I participate in our region meetings as a club President. I do know that the biggest challenge the SE region faces is finding lakes that can hold a event our size (112 boats on average)and when you have grown to our participation level the list of venues in our area shrink and when you have a limited amount of venues of this size you are fighting with other major trails for the weekends. So I fully understand your plight. Understand this issue for the SE region is self inflicted and due to the fact that each and every president since I have been fishing BASS (2004) has had the same mindset to grow our region.

I hear the chatter and talk that the region should serve the clubs in the NE. How about you guys stop pushing against the same wall and change your thinking. Have a region meeting, have the club presidents select a group of lakes to fish and then vote on which, when and where it is to be held out of, this way all clubs have a voice.

From the outside looking in, it seems that the NE region has become stale. People would rather complain than step up and try to make a change.

How many years in a row has someone from Century been the president of the NE??

The number of anglers have stayed the same regardless of what clubs have left or stayed. You mentioned your displeasure of Century but they have more anglers supporting this region with more than 1/2 the field. Moreover, the Federation is about BASS fishing comradery and supporting the community. No other clubs have supported the youth division or youth circuit other than Century anglers. It's not all about fishing a circuit to be a Federation Club - its about conservation, appreciation of the sport, and comradery amongst anglers.

In fact, the Federation is not looking for anglers that are just looking to fish another circuit; it is a weekend angler's chance to fish in the BASS Master classic and gain opportunities for sponsorships and possibly do this for a living. In order for guys to get sponsorships, etc. you have to move on from the club - this is what the Federation is all about.

I'm glad you are participating because there is not very much difference in the way we run our region. But, there is a problem with the clubs because all the anglers want to do is fish, go home, and complain when they have conflicts. As you noticed, most of the complainers have not fished for the past year or so. Moreover, most NE anglers are concerned about getting a free ride to Texas Top 6 through their club.

Most of the complainers don't know that the NE Federation also fields teams to the State Top 6, so you don't have to qualify through the clubs and it is usually easier to qualify through the Federation's Top 6 because most of the Top 6 qualify or represent their clubs so the NE Region usually fields guys in 20th place to fish in the Top 6.

Most anglers don't get it that the opportunities in the Federation is stronger than club notoriety. Many anglers can get sponsorships, discounts, and National attention through the Federation versus a club newsletter.

On a last note, many have tried to bad mouth Century Bass Club. Yet, Century has been around 38 years and have supported the NE Region with more than just fishing. Century anglers have the largest turn outs for community and outside events that include youth anglers and youth fishing divisions. When all clubs are asked to participate, NE is lucky to get more than one or two from other clubs when Century will have more than ten participants.

Lastly, the only reason why Century members are running the NE Region is because no other clubs have nominated or requested anyone from their club to represent the Region. If it wasn't for Century supporting the NE Region the region would probably go away. Some have complained in this post, but they have never participated or spoke out about change. They probably didn't know what or how their club voted during the meetings.

I'm glad to have this discussion continue because this is how we can change and grow the region. I'm interested in listening and getting people involved. I'm also looking for some good people to rise up and become a weighmaster, scorekeeper, and photographer for our events. Let's see if anyone is interested rather than post and complain.
