2014-15 trout stocking schedule is up on TPW website. A bunch of new ponds are getting stocked. The one that stands out is one big stocking of 6000 in McKinney on Mar1. They will have a kids fishing tourney but that is a lot of trout at one stocking.

Thanks, looked a couple days ago and it wasn't available yet. We lost a couple spots here. They used to stock the Lake Merideth basin below the dam and Southeast park in Canyon.

Hey guys and gals, how do I catch these trouts? I have been reading all sorts of things on the internet regarding trout fishing, but I don't own a fly rod or any trout-gear. Will an ultra light crappie rod work with some 'trout bait' off the shelves from Bass Pro? Ultra Light rod, small hooks, salmon eggs or manufactured trout bait, clear 4 or 6lb test line. <-- will that work?

Been using that for 40 years, not so much with the power bait but fishing that stuff off the bottom works quite often. If you can fish two rods, throw out the power bait and fish with a spinner or dark 1/32oz jig on the other rod.

If I had the time I would be at TYler State Park throwing Trout Swim baits for big bass.

I am surprised that Rockwall does not pony up some money. We have plenty of good ponds to stock. Rowlett quit doing it about 5 or 6 years ago. It is tough when your tax base is primarily residential.

Follow the instructions and it is a sure thing. See it here.

Just use 6 lb line and salmon hooks with a small weight with chartreuse power eggs. They stay well on the hooks. I started off with corn. Trout stole them off the hooks easily.

For an update,I went to Joe Pool this morning and stopped by the perch pond. It is scheduled for stocking early January. It is two thirds empty. If we do not get rain before January and a lot of it, they will still stock the pond. But it will be like fishing out of a backyard swimming pool. That means the first weekend everyone will limit out on trout and they will be completely gone in about a week and a half.
