Had to be topwater in general for me with emphasis placed on hollow body frogs. Really spent a lot of time learning different baits inside and out and also understanding better how picking the right gear for the technique as well as myself could greatly improve hookups and landing. I always thought you needed a broomstick rod etc till I started paying attention to guys like Rojas etc. I saw what they were using and picked what seemed best for me and it really took off. Had my 2 biggest fish of 2014 on a frog and have a pile of chewed up ones with holes in them that no longer float. Also learned they work well in open water, around rock and other places without classic shoreline cover.
My only complaint is I wish it was a 12 month of the year deal in regards to that bite. roflmao

It was deep cranking for me... It worked well for me for about 2 months and then gone. So I don't know if just don't know how to adjust or follow the fish, or if it is truly that seasonal around these parts.
I guess next year I will work on my deep water staking abilities.

It was really fun while it lasted so I am more eager than ever to get good at it.

That is my biggest flaw in any deep fishing I do. If I can start off getting bites right away I can stay with it all day. If I go an hour or two with no feedback I tend to get jumpy and go back to what I like to fish in shallower water. I should know better because the days we have loaded the boat in deep water took patience and persistence to hang around till you get those flurries of action. I think at times I am too stubborn.

moving baits in general. Worked all around on Cranks, spinners and swim baits. Worked alot on different retrieves and methods. I even went as far as working 1oz spinner baits like a combination of jig/flutter spoon...work it like a bump and slow roll....landed a ton of keeper fish that way...Hoping to get better with squarebills as well.....

Been a solid fishing year this year....whenever I struggled I would just put on a T-Rig or Shaky head and go to work

Shaky head. I kept on seeing Bill Wilcox throwing it on his show, so I decided to try it. Had some success, so I will keep it as a permanent part of my tackle.

Yellow magic and frog have become a huge confident bait for me. Also got comfortable throwing weightless plastics in and around grass this summer fishing ponds. Really had to dead stick it in heat of day also gained confidence in downsizing senkos 3-4inch
