Great post, with alot of food porn My question is, how you fit all that food on a small 18" diameter grill? Very carefully!!! I can get 12 pieces of chicken, one of those skillets, and about 4 ears of corn on it with no problem after that you have to start stacking. I did recently get the XL and it's substantially bigger with a 24 inch diameter. Almost all of those pics were on the Large.

It may be the egg or it may be steak at midnight, but I'm starting to build my own photo gallery Coon.

Scott I'm not sure I didn't think he did but I was so busy I never really noticed. I have an extra half ring that I use to get mine up that high works perfect.

Hey Monte, what temp did you grill your steaks at, or do you normally cook them at using just the racks, not directly on the coals (caveman style, lol)? Gonna be firing up the BGE Sunday when my Mom comes in town and will be grilling some filet mignon and ribeye. I have been getting the temps up to about 450 but was thinking about going higher. The main reason I don't go too high is because my Mom and my wife prefer their steaks about medium, almost medium well and if I go too high on the temp, they might get too charred before cooking enough internally.

Sorry for the delay Scott I've been out of town all weekend for our Media Bass Championship tournament and had very little internet service. I hope your steaks turned out great!!! What I normally do is grill my steaks on the cast iron grate for 90 seconds per side at 750 degrees that gives you unbelievable grill marks and sears the steaks to hold the maximum amount of juices as well. After searing at 90 seconds per side I take the steaks off put them on a platter and tent with tin foil and allow them to rest for 15-18 minutes while I'm bringing the temp of the Egg back to around 400 degrees. Once the Egg is back in the 400 degree range put them back on being careful to make sure they are at a 45 degree angle from the original sear marks it makes for an awesome presentation. I will finish them off at 3 minutes per side for medium rare and 5-6 minutes per side for medium to medium well of course all of those times will vary depending a the thickness of the steaks generally those times are for 1.5 inch thick steaks. Give that a try next time you will be glad you did!!!

WOW! I guess I never have cooked with that high of heat. Mom and kids ended up wanting pizza so we made pizzas on the BGE Sat night. They came out awesome as usual. Mom was going to head home yesterday then her Traverse starting running hot, only 41k miles but I think it was the thermostat getting stuck. So, she ended up staying the night last night again while the car went to the shop this morning. We ended up grilling steaks last night. Cooked them at around 525 degrees. Nice grill marks but I probably should have used my cast iron grate. Haven't used them yet. They came out great but I think I'll try your method next time just to see how it goes. Thx.. Oh, nice pics too, those steaks look good!
