I try to put my brush piles in 17 or 18 ft. of water, I try to put them in a chanel.I also want my top to be where there is very little or no cover there before I sink my brush.

In one of the pictures below, it shows crappie and bait fish and another one shows blue cat. How do you differentiate between the different fish?

Nice shot & work... Here's tha 2D, same area as that DI shot.... That`s a nice shot however I would have to respectfully disagree on the species.Based on my experience the signature represented on the 2D is more along the lines of a catfish than of a Crappie. There is too much red in the return which represents a dense bone like that a cat fish would have in his head.Crappie do not give such a return and are tighter schooled.Just my

Yallzzz don't know how hardheaded our crappie are down here....LOL I know I catch crappie when I through my marker out on that row of stumps so I figured they were crappy... Lotsa times after I'm done whacking'em I'll pass back ova those stumps & there's a lot less of those there fishes showing on sonar. Juss my be cats but crappy are tha ones I usually pull up from them there stumps.... Idono!!!

It`s all good SK.I believe you are catching Crappie around those stumps which is exactly where they should be.I`m just suggesting that with that transducer up on high like that ,the more dense the fish is the more RED will show up in the return.Especially on aHumminbird.Very nice shot btw. What type unit are you using sir?

Incredible images SK. I have a 998 on my kayak and I don't get that kind of crispness in the images. I'd love to know your settings if your inclined to share them.

Incredible images SK. I have a 998 on my kayak and I don't get that kind of crispness in the images. I'd love to know your settings if your inclined to share them. Thanks & sure, this is a copy & paste that gives the settings I use....they are from DV...I'll say this also it really depends on bottom hardness & water conditions on these settings, I change them for different parts of the lake. SI Sensitivity: 8 to 12 (Lower for hard bottoms, higher for soft bottoms) SI Enhance Settings: Off (99% of the time)--- Sensitivity: This is the same sensitivity as above---Contrast: adjust contrast 10-14 range depending on bottom conditions to make data easier to see Scroll Speed: I run scroll from 3-5 depending on the details I want to get in the screen most of the time it's 4SI Transducer Frequency: 455kHz for largest coverage area (90% of time) 800 kHz when looking for more detail (10% of the time) DI Sensitivity: 10-12 this is seperate of SI or 2D Sensitivity DI Enhance Settings: Off---Sensitivity - 2 numbers higher than SI 10 to 14--- Contrast: adjust contrast 10-14 range depending on bottom conditions to make data easier to see DI Coverage: Wide for more data or Narrow when only looking under boat Down Imaging uses the SI Frequencies 455 or with HDSi Transducer on 898c, 997c, 998c or 1197c, 1198c offers 800 kHz. I use the 455 kHz.2D Sonar Frequency:Switchfire Mode: Max for Vertical Fishing and Water over 10', Clear Mode when I want to see fish only Sensitivity: Varies per conditions and which Mode I'm usingTransducer Type: 200kHz only

Thanks SK. I had been using 800HZ pretty much all the time and went back to 455Hz out on Murvaul on Sunday. I tinkered a little and dialed it in pretty good. Just need to see how it looks on more familiar waters (Texoma) next weekend...

yep looks like one tall stump, a bunch of scattered baitfish near the bottom, with some huge cats, some medium cats, and maybe some sandies and a few crappies mixed in. In them big fish, the sonar can also show the bloodline as high density.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
