If you are fishing plastics, rod is by far most important. I went from All star to G Loomis about 5 years ago and wish I would have done it sooner. Amazing what you can feel!!

It's a bit of a trick question. Rod is hands down more important... however, I feel like you have to spend a lot more to get a better quality reel than to get a better quality rod. I use mostly $100 rods. They are light, sensitive, durable... sure there are much lighter rods out there, but they aren't THAT much more sensitive like the difference in a $50 rod and $100 rod is greater by far than say a $100 rod and a $400 rod. But looking at reels, the differences are much more subtle until you get to higher end reels. A $400 reel is wildly superior to a $100 reel. Also a reel can last pretty well forever. A rod will eventually break no matter what. Good fluorocarbon and good tungsten make a greater impact in modern soft plastic fishing and bite detection than the rod itself probably. And with those two things, any given reel and any given rod, are much more sensitive feeling. That in particular is probably what makes the jump less drastic between higher end rods/reels honestly. The rest of the components in the system nowadays severely blur the line in quality. I'm sure if you threw monofilament and light weight lead on the business end and sampled a group of rods/reels the higher end stuff would REALLY shine, but with tungsten and fluorocarbon on them all, the differences would probably be a good deal less perceivable.

Depends on what kind of rod and what kind of reel you are talking about. I will preface by saying I put more stock in my reels than my rods mostly because I have more money invested in reels.
The general rule is as follows (and by expensive I mean high quality): Cheap rod, cheap reel I'd say the rod is more important. Cheap reel, expensive rod I'd say the rod is more important. Expensive reel, cheap rod I'd say the reel is more important. Expensive reel, expensive rod I'd say the reel is more important.

Rod, I need a good reel as well but the rod is the feeler between you and the fish so I want it as sensitive as I can find. the reel needs to be durable and have good gears though or a big fish will make short use of it.

I would rather have h20 express mettles on an army of quality rods over a curado on a cherry wood or some cheap rods any day of the week. Yep.

I'm a flipper and shaky heads so I need the feel of the bite. I need a rod that helps with that.
Thanks,

Just the regular Veritas line, and not micro guide (I don't much care for microguides)
Haven't tried the new 2.0's
What were you asking for specifically?

What were you asking for specifically? Just any reviews on it. Haven't found much online.

It's a pretty new rod, but also pretty much identical to the previous Veritas, I would purchase base don normal Veritas reviews.
Also, depending on what you're using it for, I'd look at the Vendetta line as well, cheaper and most of them are better rods imo, I have a few of each and save for my drop shot spinning rod (veritas) and my cranking rod (veritas) I like the vendetta's better for most other applications. The Veritas are WAY underrated in terms of rod power and action, and because of this I have several friends who purchase and don't use the rods because they are much stiffer than they meant to buy.
Let me know what you're looking to do with them and I can offer advice I wish I had when I bought my first Veritas, and has helped me have better success buying the right rod actions from them now.
All of that said, several guides use them and they can take a serious beating. I love them both, the Vendetta just seem to run lighter and more sensitive, and are also cheaper. The Veritas is available in more parobilic (Winch models) blanks for cranking as well as short stiff spinning rods for drop shot, and long stiff rods for punching etc. Has more specialized rods to suit specific needs vs. Vendetta is more general purpose rods imo.

Rod,
There are a lot of quality reels, when you slap a 1/2 rattle trap on, most reels will chunk it a mile. Rod selection is more important than the rod itsle, matching the action of the rod to what you are doing.

It depends on what you intend to use it for. I prefer to spend more on the reel if the combo is going to be used for long casts with crankbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits and such. If it is going to be used for pitching and flipping, then the rod is more important.

Looking for a new T-rig setup basically. Something primarily for worm fishing.
