I don't know for sure but would guess someone bought an insurance policy to back it. Kinda like car dealers do example= if it rains at the car dealer on labor day between 1 and 2 PM everyone who bought a car that day gets it for free. Under righters love these policies because they are quick cash, with a short defined ending time on the policy, and they calculate the odds to set the premium, so since the current record has stood since 2003, the odds of the new lake record will be caught on that day between those hours, are relatively slim. Cheep policy gets a nice guarantee for promotional purposes.

I've never fished a catfish tournament but it sounds like a good time. Is this open to anyone? If so I would love to participate.

This tournament is open to anyone who wants to fish there are no membership fees or anything I will announce the host location as well as early sign up and morning sign ups when we get a little closer to tournament time
