My buddy had a history of screwing things up. He had his keys in his windbreaker pocket...it warmed up and he took off with the windbreaker laying it on seat back. On our next move he just forgot an leaned up a little and we never saw it blow out. I watched this same guy with his bait thrown out just lay his rood down to get a smoke...it was hilarious to watch that rod being pulled under and away in that clear water. Then there was the time on Choke when he got out of his truck on that steep ramp...the truck door slammed shut and he was locked out.

I've lost a few pairs of cheap sunglasses running down the lake. That all changed when I bought my costas and wear the cables. I have also lost a few bags of plastics and the occasional hat. Nothing major like rods or anything! I think i would go into cardiac arrest!

That I remember- My favorite rod, a cheap pair of sunglasses, A storage sack for my mp3 player, several hats (but always got them back), a whataburger cup (sorry, I would have went back but I didn't know it blew out), and several other small pieces of trash (again, I'm sorry, but as a former Boy Scout, I always try to leave the lake with more trash than I brought in).

Anything left in front of the windshield. All i see or hear is a flash as it flys by my head. Mostly the only color and the last bag they will bite, all kinds of spray stuff. And one combo.

An almost new spinning reel and rod combo worth about $150 - never knew when I kicked it overboard. And a new life vest that blew out of the boat but didn't know when.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Wow! 50% of the posts could have been avoided if they were wearing Amphibia. Just saying I wear Amphibias (after losing several pairs of Costas), and I managed to lose a pair of Amphibias as well. They do float as advertised, but They were knocked off of my head as I dove into the Guadalupe river to save a dad that was drowning while trying to save his drowning son. I got both of them out of the river and they were just fine afterwards, but in doing so, I happened to see those Amphibias float right past me in the current. Couldn't exactly let go of those guys to grab a pair of shades. Bought another pair, and haven't been able to lose them yet.

One time I put my rods on the deck with the reels aft and not at the bow. Cutting across Conroe at 60mph in some pretty good chop my brand new American Rodsmith with a brand new Lews on it worked it's way back past the console. Once the reel cleared the console it stood straight up like a flagpole and with catlike reflexes I extended my right hand out and caught that sucker before it made it's way to the bottom of the lake. Oh, I once tied on a lure and cut the tag with my clippers and threw the clippers over the side instead of the tag.

Running south on Rayburn my wife says "the livewell lid is opening", I turn my head to look back and my prescription glasses catch air and fly right out of the back of the boat!!! Needless to say the livewell lid was loose but not opening; fished half blind the rest of the weekend!
