Fished with Fred "Rionator",and Mike "USMC_GY" and caught the afternoon bite on Dunlap. The bite was good and we caught plenty of fat Bluegill in the 7 to 10 inch range. Biggest Bluegill was about 1.25 lbs and was very close to 11 inches. Most of the Bluegill were in the 8 inch range. We also caught some very nice Redear in the 9 to 12 inch range. Biggest Redear was 12.25". We caught 10 Trophy Redear. The others were in the 9 inch range. The Redear were also nice and fat. Rounding out the catch were about 15 bass with the biggest going about 4 pounds. The Gills and Redear were caught in 12 feet of water holding by brush piles. The Bass were holding close to the shore lines and were in shallow water 3 to 5 feet deep. Bottom,float,and drop shot methods were used. Worms,jigs,and minnows were the baits of choice. Most of the fish were released to fight again but I did keep a total of 10 Redear/Bluegill for the frying pan. After an afternoon on the water we had a GREAT DINNER at the El Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant in New Braunfels. A nice afternoon of fishing with some super anglers. It just don't get any better.

I'm going to give Dunlap a try tomorrow. I've lived
in SA all my life and have never fished that lake.

Will report if we do any good.

Hey Chuck

We put in under the I-35 bridge at about 9AM Thursday. Wonderful morning on the water.
We caught about 50 sunfish total. We kept 12 perch and 1 catfish for the pot. We fished until 1PM.
Most of the perch we kept were red ears. My bud caught 1 very nice Rio. Just shy of a pound I would say.
We caught all fish on worms using a slip bobber. Can't wait to go again now !

Thanks "Ketchn" and Chris for the replies! Chris: Sounds like you had a good day on Dunlap! Glad you located some decent fish. How deep were they? Also how deep was the Rio? Thanks and again awesome job on catching some nice fish. The bite will get better if we get some cooler weather.

It was a truly great day. We are looking to go back one day next week and try again.

We had our slip corks set to about 5 to 6 feet deep. We fished around shore overhangs and snags.
The Rio we caught was in about 8 foot of water.

I wished I would have paid a bit more attention to your words as well as the great pics you posted. I saw today
that you recommended fishing on the bottom. I'm going to try that next time.

Thanks for the info Chris. We were getting em in a little deeper water 12 to 17 feet deep! I think this warm snap has em hitting the shallower water.
