Thanks "GT" and "Moonriver" for the replies. These latest cool snaps have really got the fish active. The fall bite is picking up super good. Both the river lakes and creeks where I fish are paying off big time!

Simply Outstanding. Great looking fish guys. Looks like the fall bite is in full gear! Those have to be some of the biggest Bluegill I have seen coming off that lake. Again awesome job.
Got a feeling that a 15" Redear is swimming around somewhere on Dunlap!

Thanks "Gitter" for the reply. The bite will get better once we get some more cooler weather. This was truly a once in a million trip. As for the 15" Redear. No doubt about it. There are several 15" fish in those river lakes for sure.

Checked the records section on the TPW web site and the Redear weight record is 2.99 lbs almost a 3 pound fish. Also the catch&release record Redear is 15". Both fish were caught on Lady Bird Lake in Austin. Seems both the LBL and Lake Dunlap have a lot in common! "BIG REDEAR".

I'm jealous, I was starting to have that lake figured out before I moved to Colorado. There were days I would catch 3-5 redears over 10 inches, and I have also gotten a 12 incher that was a little over 1.5 pounds. Not to mention plentiful channel cats in the 12-18 inch range, and a good amount of double digit bass. Next time I come back to Texas I'll probably spend a few days out there looking for a big bass. Cheers!

. This red ear eats trophy bass for breakfast. Recommended that you land this class red ear with a steel braid reinforced landing net and handle only with Boga Grip while fish is still alive. (Caught out of Lake Havasu February 2014)

Thanks "balazs" for the reply. Been following some of your post and you don't do bad yourself. You also were getting some pretty good results on Dunlap when you were fishing it. Keep up the GREAT fishing and keep posting. I always enjoy seeing your catches. Chris: I don't think there is a Redear that big in Dunlap. Don't think the lake could support a fish like that. I do think that there are 15" Redear in not only Dunlap but Mcqueeney and Placid as well.

I've seen some really big redear in beorne city lake. I wish I had went out there more but I got skunked once so I never went back.

Boerne Lake can be a very difficult lake to fish. Some times the fish are holding in deep water and other times they are up in the channel. They can be very hard to find on that lake. You are right about that lake having big Redear. There is also some super Bluegill in that lake. Side Note: I will also add some big bass and catfish!

Redear is the only fish I would scale & fry whole. Some of the best eating right there is Big Bream!
Congrats on a remarkable Day!
