Not sure if you're talkn about tha lighter or darker area so I'll splain both.
The lighter areas are stumps....
The darker area is the shadow that the hump is casting over the drop off...

Here's aahh 2D sonar shot & just so ya know I'm part of that po'folk group too, just that fishn & huntn is all's I do fer fun so I get the tools to enjoy it....  This is a shout with a few stumps & some tasty crappie hanging round'em....

Gave the crappie a little Christmas gift...three trees all in a row ready to give presents (jigs) to crappie! Dropped them the other night in a couple of hot spots. Still have 8 more trees to drop. Had fun putting them out and will have even more fun catching crappie from them!

Very nice Bob! Those look great! It's fun putting out your own brush piles. I like that others have to go out and try to find them while you are already fishing them!!
Mine are already holding fish after two weeks. I caught a few the other day on one of my new piles.
