50-75 yards

If someone is on a particular spot I want to fish I will wait till they move off while fishing another area. Crowding another angler is not a good thing unless you have communicated with them for permission. DON'T cut anyone off if they are fishing down a bank or point and by that I mean if the boat is moving right to left down a line don't pull in front of them in the direction they are moving by even a couple of 100 yards! Usually if someone is moving down a line I will drop in behind them about 100 yards and just give them room in case they want to back track an area. Most and I mean most anglers really don't mind sharing if you approach them right. It is the obnoxious ones that blow by you and then pull in front of you within that 25 yards that create issues. Just treat everyone the way you would want to be treated out on the water and those that are horses behinds will reap what they sow. I believe in karma and if you deal out the 'bad' it will come around and bite you and you deserve it! Good karma and respect for others will always put you on top and when something bad happens someone always will show up to help too!!!
Life is too short to let some butthead ruin your day on the water!!! Besides I usually out fish them anyway!!!

Sometimes a little pressure helps convince a person to commit to what they percieve as the sweet spot. I'm doing them a favor really.

I try not to crowd anybody and will give distance. Two cast length is good. I have had some get closer but that doesn't bother me like it does some. Now if I fishing a certain area and someone pulls up and starts throwing where I'm throwing, that's a different story. Most of the time you can have a great conversation with them.

This one is simply-don't fish closer to them than you would want them to fish to you if you
were the one that got there first.

There is never an excuse to fish on top of someone else (unless invited)-just go fish somewhere else.

if I can throw a 10xd or spoon in your boat then your too close to me, unless I tie a ribbon in the tree inviting you in or a can sharing my hole with you cause we are fishing a tournament and you cant find fish so we can both weigh limits.. oops that's not the subject here sorry carry on.

Fishing school fish topwater?.... It don't matter.
Fishing a worm hole?.... 60 yards.
Fishing Lake Fork in the Spring?.... 5 feet.

I had this happen to me on Athens a few weeks ago. Was fishing a bank pitching docks. Was working the last dock and about to go work the point about 30 yards south of the dock when two "bro's" in their flat bills motored up in their Skeeter on the point and started fishing right in front of me. I just chuckled, shook my head and left. Not a big deal. Lots of water. I had an incredible experience at the next spot that more than likely I would have missed out on if I had been working that point over.

One good full cast length is borderline unless communicated otherwise. Fished a tournament on falcon two years ago and literally had a guy pull in on me and my partner and get within less than 5 feet of our boat, parallel with us, and started throwing right where our jigs were landing. I couldn't stop laughing. Thought about taking a step to the left and just fishing with him the rest of the day.

I try to show respect, in the hopes it would be returned. If not, no biggie. No sense in getting myself all bent out of shape about it. When I had my little boat, if someone was in a spot or area I was headed to, I'd let em fish it. It gave me a chance to have to find new (to me) water to fish.

If I ever saw Evan O'Brien or Bogey, I'd troll over to em and steal the rods off their deck or at least put a hefty knick in their lines

If you have to ask....this is like the unwritten law of choose the farthest urinal away from the next person standing law !!!...the feeling in the "air" will tell you what is right !

I think it depends on the lake. If your on lakes like Fork or Lewisville it's ok to get as close as you want just don't bump into the other guys boat.
