I only wore the Akubra hat, could not afford the bandana therefore do not qualify. So I am with Turf Dawg

I self-identify as a purist, meaning I only fish dry flies on my fly rod. Why? First, that's all I knew for atleast half of the time I've been fly fishing, so I stick to it (if it ain't broke...). Second, it's a nice break from the subsurface fishing I already do all the time for bass, sunfish, catfish, etc (unless I'm frogging for bass).

I've got plenty of subsurface baits, and add more to my tackle all the time, they're just not flies.

Too me, purist is the one only fish with fly rod, reel, line and flies. I am not one, cause i use conventional gears.

Purist=narcissist.

Here's my opinion. A purist can be a purist and makes sure that everybody else darned well knows it.
Then there's the purist who is a purist for their own satisfaction and could care less how anybody else does it or what others think.
I've fished with purists. They didn't make me wrong for how I fished. I don't think that "purist" is so much the point as is how we treat each other.

Only thing about nymphing I frown upon is when I pull my rig out of the water and it looks like a rats nest. Which is awesome.

There aren't any Native Indians around these parts. That was the true Purist IMO of North America. In all aspects of life....back then.
