Had a blast Friday and Saturday fellas! Thanks to everyone for coming out! Brent and I want to thank Mountain Sports of Arlington and James Harber and the Eisenhower Yacht Club for sponsoring and hosting this. James and the EYC really went above and beyond here, providing a Hobie Quest 11 for the raffle, donuts and pizza at check in and weigh in, and just general amazing hospitality. He contributed more than we could've possibly wished for and we can't thank him enough. We highly encourage anyone looking for Hobie to head up to his store. As a certified Hobie dealer, located right on the water in one of the best state parks in Texas, he has several mirage drive and paddle Hobies on hand that you can look at, rent for the day and pedal/paddle immediately. A demo at his shop is as simple as walking in, talking to him or one of his staff, and taking 20 steps outside where he has the latest models ready to try out. So if you're in the market for a Hobie and want an immediate demo, there is no better place in all of North Texas and perhaps the entire state, where you can have a hands-on/foot-in-the-pedal experience to make an informed decision about purchasing a Hobie product. If you have any questions you can find all contact info at the EYC website: http://www.eisenhoweryachtclub.com . Again, words can't express how thankful we are for James's generosity. Okay on to the results! SORRY OKIELAND, but TEXAS WINS!!!!!!!!!! 30 anglers participated, 17 in the Black Bass and 13 in the Striper divisions. In spite of very slow post frontal conditions, some nice fish were caught. The Oklahoma contingent was only 5 total anglers, so we ended up taking the best 3 black bass stringer and the best two striper stringers and adding them up. Result: Texas: 237.5 inches Oklahoma: 108.5 inches Once again, DFW kayak fishermen prove that there is no region that is their equal when we show up in force!!!! Individual Winners Black Bass Division 1st Danny Bowen 50.00 inches 300$ plus 100$ gift card from Mountain Sports 2nd Walker Nelson 48.75 inches 3rd Guillermo Gonzalez 45.25 inches Striper Division1st Henry Shipes 51.25 220$ plus 100$ gift card from Mountain Sports 2nd Joey Vu 47.5 3rd Roger Brown 43.75 Big LargemouthLouis Conn 18.25 140$ Big SmallmouthJosh Walker 18.00 90$ Big StriperHenry Shipes 28.00 120$ And let's not forget the winner of the raffle who went home with a new Hobie Quest 11 that retails for 999$Congrats NINJA!!!! Jason O' Brien! Again guys, those of you that couldn't make it missed out. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN NEXT YEAR AS THE TRADITION WILL CONTINUE!!!! As usual I forgot to take pics so please post them up if you've got them...

Congrats to the winners! Good to see everyone Friday night, wish I could've stayed and fished. Glad to see that in typical North Texas fashion, you guys put in work to bring home the Win.

What a great tournament!! Tom and Brent did a awesome job putting this one together. It takes time and hard work to put on a tourney like this. They did it and made it look easy. Thanks yall two for making the sacrifices to provide us with fun tournaments to participate. To Eisenhower Yacht Club I was totally blown away with their hospitality. They made huge contribution to this tournament and I really look forward to having more tournaments at this location in the future! Mountain Sports stepped up with a $200 gift certificate which I thought was very cool. Josh it was good to see you again! I finished out of the money on this one but it was still one of the funnest kayak tournaments I have attended. It was great visiting was friends and even make some new ones. I really am looking forward to the next RRR!!
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19

Still worn out and catching up on rest but had a great time on Texoma. I love that lake. Really impressed with the Eisenhower Yacht Club...that whole facility is just incredible. Thanks to all the guys that took the time to put on the event and to Mountain Sports. It was tough fishing for me, only one bass and one striper in the boat right off the bat, lose two more bass soon after when they threw the rattletrap back at me, then nothing the rest of the day. Lots of activity right up against the bank but couldn't get them to take a topwater or spinner bait. The lake was around 6 feet lower than last time I was there and my honey hole on Buncombe was high and dry. Lots of fog early.

I fished the islands, as did most of the striper entrants. I found a school in 3-4 fow and threw a cocahoe with a homemade fly tied above it. The first four hookups were doubles and I got 7 fish in the boat from them, including one of my scoring fish. The last double must have had a better fish on bottom, because it broke my line between the fly and plastic. I also was blessed by a fairly close view of three groups of deer as they made their morning commute. This was a phone pic of the second group I saw. Blurry shot I know, but a cool memory from the day, which had many!

I had an awesome time!..Great to finally meet some of the Okie guys..James has a sweet little store at Eisenhower and his hosting was top notch...Tom and Brent did a great job on this tourney. Fishing was brutal....I know I had to grind it out for that 48'' but I didn't expect that to place at all. It was really maddening to mark and visually see these fish having no interest in any presentation. Some of those areas are just beautiful looking...When the fall bite really turns on Ill be back.

Mountain Sports thank you again also for your support and gifts. Tom and Brent.top notch, and well done. Congrats to the winners! job well done ! on a very tuff day of fishing. I stunk it up, landing one fish in the last 30min. Well i went in blind with zero pre fishing or map studying and my results show. But with out fail Lady Luck stood close by me and I won the kayak raffle!! How awesome is that!! What a great time! kayak angling fellowship at its finest.
