Next week is going to be at Morgan Crossing Park. This one will get interesting to see as well. I've personally pulled a 3 pound bass out of there but I know there's some big cats in there as well.

Make note, that this will be the only pond that will be allowed to fish. The one south of it is now private and the ones north are not considered to be in the "Park" area. I would recommend jeans for this one and LOTS of bug spray. This place is plenty big and is a healthy pond.

Last night was a lot of fun! Really got surprised towards the end of the time slot. Being primarily a bass guy I had to do a little research on how to catch those whiskery fellos. BIG SHOUT OUT to fshng84 for the dough recipe and the catfishing tips!! I added a little twist to the bait but other than that I pretty much just followed his technique. Although it was a lot of fun, I'm really looking forward to getting back to some bass fishing next week.

This was the only pic I took last night and pretty much what the majority of the time there looked like. At one point I considering taking off early, thinking there's only smaller fish in this pond. Goes to show you, don't give up! As Fisherman13 said in his community lakes post "You never know what the next cast holds...."

See you all next Monday!!

So we aren't fishing that place north of Bethany next week?? I'm glad...didn't sound friendly to park there!

Not yet. Shadow Lakes is the following week. Morgan Crossing is a big pond. Pick your spot well and be ready to walk a lot. Some of the surrounding area's are not easy to get through either. I'm pretty sure it's going to be the person who is willing to do the most walking to get the hardest to reach place, will catch the biggest bass. I've seen people catfishing there so I know they are in there. To what size they are... I don't have a clue. If anybody wants to chime in, I welcome it. I haven't fished here in months so I don't know what's working now... not that I would tell you anyway lol.

Thanks RobMoe, great looking Catfish! Glad the dough bait recipe worked. I walked by last night but was not able to fish. Work schedule conflicts but is good to see others hooking up!

FYI... Here is a link to the dough bait recipe for anyone interested - Simple Dough Bait Recipe.

Fisherman13 and I fished this pond a couple weeks back. I caught some decent bass, nothing close to 3 pounds though. I know there's good ones in there. I will say that when Kris says use bug spray he isn't kidding. Last time I went I wore pants and sprayed what I thought was enough. Woke up the next morning with massive amounts of chigger bites all over my legs, made for a couple miserable nights of not sleeping very well. I'm using the whole can this time!!

Congratulations RobMoe, that is awesome work! Way to Geaux! It was fun to see everyone. I will say when RobMoe and Kris say to use bug spray....they are not joking! I have not fished "Morgan Park", in 5 weeks and just now have no signs of chiggers...I bought some stuff at Walgreens called Chig-Away..it worked @ Mustang Creek after the wife kicked me out last Sat. Thx for the video and pics!

As for parking at Shadow Lakes, if your up for a little walk you could park at Bethany Lakes. The joggers and walkers take the trip back and forth quite often its not terribly far away. I've never caught a catfish at Shadow Lakes way too many turtles. Bass can be good there I have seen some on beds in the spring that looked like 5lbs. but they wouldn't bite. And good fish in all 3 ponds. Should be fun. Take you chigger spray.

And the pond at Morgan Crossing has some nice catfish and nice bass, take your pick.

Here is a 18.5" bass, I let my son reel this one in on 6lb. line. He had fun.

Here is one of many big cats I have caught there. My bait for the cats????? No secret just look back in the community lakes thread back in May this year.
Also got a 14" crappie in that pond.
