I think Henry Ford said it best. "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right." Well Said!

A career? Not likely. As much as we hate to realize, many things that the vast majority (and likely all) of us do for recreation will not provide a career. The numbers just don't work unless you have minimal obligations in the world and willing to accept not much more than a daily existence and even then it would be a stretch - is it possible to exist at some standard of living for a few years? Possibly. Will it provide a "career" - not likely. What I would suggest to someone who wants to be involved in the sport of kayak fishing is get an education, develop skills and obtain a position in businesses/companies that support fishing/kayaking.....or create your own. Be an engineer - design kayaks, get education in finance, marketing, logistics, manufacturing technology, etc. and support companies that support the industry. Or create your own business/products/services that cater to the industry. Excel at what you do and that will allow you the latitude to kayak fish (recreationally or competitively) as you desire and be around those who have the same interests while developing an enjoyable career. Catching fish from a plastic boat in itself is not a career but you can leverage that interest to help provide career direction.
