thumb Just be careful near the ramps especially Rogers, there's a tree barely under the water just off to north side of the ramp, a long point that extends way out across the mouth of cove and two stumps barely showing right off the end of the point.

Took 11 3/4 lbs with 3 fish to win the Wednesday nighter last week with a 5 3/4 lb big fish. There was also a 4 1/2 lb smallmouth weighed in. The bigger fish have started to bite since these last few cold fronts. Should be a good event.

+1 I am really considering doing this event (on the boater side) I just got out the service in august but would still like to give back to my people. Just never been on the lake and being in college I am trying to weigh the expenses. Nice to see no entry. Never being on the lake and only prefishing friday y'all think I could get on em or someone help me out a little bit so I can at least show a good time?

Close but not in the same neighborhood. Killeen is 60mi from Wako. Belton main lake and is south of there near Belto/Temple, TX. Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area-BLORA is at the extreme east end. Ft. Hood/Killeen has plenty of Hotel space available. Shilo Inn is next door to the civic center as there are several in the area.

If you have ever fished lakes with rock bluffs and standing timber, you'll do fine. If not, don't panic. The fish are biting right now and you should be able to have a good time. Not an easy lake to break down at all but if you fish your strength's, it'll be fine. Concentrate on the main lake where you take off (BLORA) to the dam area. Should be schoolers all day. Jigs, shad cranks, shad flukes should be the ticket out there right now. Good luck.

Peter

There are several hotels which are offering special rates for this tournament. Go to www.fishingforfreedom.org and click the lodging information tab and it will have the hotels offering the discount on rooms.
