Is there a "best" hook for plastic worms and other similar soft lures? Or what's your favorite worm hook and why?

I tried 'modern' plastic worms for 1st time on vacation last month, and I was flat-out amazed. They're nothing like what was available before my fishing hiatus.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Don't know if they are best, but use Gamakatsu EWG 3/0 worm hooks most of the time.

Good Luck,
Bryan

Same here. Gamakatsu EWG. 2/0 to 4/0. I like the way they rig up, and they're sharp.

Another vote for Gamakatsu--thin wire and sharp easily penetrates mouth of fish without making a huge hole.

I've had a few big fish straighten EWG Gamas. I prefer a stronger hook, like a TroKar.

Years of testing and trying hooks people recommended or I just bought into advertising... I grabbed a few bags of Matzuo J Sickle EWG hooks there in a rush on sale at Academy one day and now these are my go to hooks. These in 4/0 basically catch fish for you. They are incredible. They feel very flimsy and will flex easily but I have never straightened one or actually bent one fishing. I my hook up ratio and landing ratio went up a lot with them as well. I do keep a hook file handy (every angler should) as the points will go fast if you get them into rocks or other hard stuff. Everyone I let use them has fallen in love with them too.

I predominantly used Gama before these, and have had issues straightening and even breaking those in some bizarre instances. No such issue with these even though they feel much more pliable... they seem to get me better leverage and work for me not against me some how? I'm no engineer, I just like to catch fish lol fish
