A fellow TFFer makes the very best shakeyheads I have ever used. They are footballs, and he will put whatever hooks ya want on them. Look up lvillelrat. You wont be dissapointed. Good price too.I Got some 3 and 4 ought hooks.
I'll throw that Pumpkin Ed in 5/8 oz in some certain situations, but Scott's shaky heads are the best deal going, no doubt.

One thing that I learned when I started using them several years ago is use the ones with the wire twist on it. The first shaky heads I bought were the spot removers with the spike thing you stick in the worm. The worm does not stay on it worth a carp unless you super glue it and even then it is questionable, especially after you catch a fish on it I like to use the big bites that doug r mentioned Spot remover has a pro series or something like that, it has the wire and a hell of a hook. Agree but once you bend that hook once, toss it. I thought the shorter shank would make it a little tougher. Negative. I like Owners. I am qualified to speak on this topic because I hang up a lot and have to pull them free. I use the Owners as well, really like them but to me the hook is no stronger than the Spot Remover.

Probably my favorite thing to throw on a shakey head is a Zoom Speed Craw in watermelon red. I normally throw 3/8 oz head

I use 3/16 or 1/4oz size. I actually rig up 4 inch Senkos on it and catch a lot of fish that way. You get a couple of seconds before it falls over once you hop it. I just s lowly bounce it back to me that way (bank fishing)

A little late here chiming in, but one thing about fishing with a shakeyhead is that many people shake it too much. This is a common error. There are many different heads. Some have a flat surface to help balance your bait upright. (Good luck with that.) some worms like the Zoom Trick Worm are excellent for using as a shakeyhead. It floats, so the tail stick up letting the fish see the action and the bait. Now let me introduce you to a truly awesome worm for using as a shakeyhead. Watch the video on their website. www.e2baits.com You will be amazed! This worm not only floats, but rights itself each time you shake it. Try it, you will never use anything else ever again. Its that good!
"If you've quit learn'n, you might'as well quit fish'n cuz yer not catch'n as many fish as ya should be!"

Went out and bought some Owners 'Ultrahead' 3/8 Jigs, and put on a 'Aaron's Magic' Roboworm. Rigged up this morning at 7:30am from the bank, along a ledge 10-12 ft. drop off at Twin Coves Park on Grapevine, And...nothing. Not one bite. I think it had more to do with the location than the rig though. The bite today was not very good at my favorite bank spots, not even with my confidence lure, the weightless Senko.
I like the Owners Ultra jigs. Seem well made. Also got a bag of KVD finesse worms (watermelon and red flake). Will keep trying the set up with various worms. The rig certainly seems like a winner. Don't have a boat, so not sure if my results will be poorer from the bank, but perhaps so.
