Wow! That's very high! Now I'm really curious about how much you weigh. I weighed 268# at the Dr.'s office last Friday. I paddled the FS12T once last year, and I can tell you that I would never be comfortable in THAT chair on THAT kayak. I don't mean to slam the kayak, because I thought it was pretty nice, considering the capacity. I have an elevated chair that I built in my Commander, and it is about 6" tall. I doubt I would put anything higher in the FS12T for my use.

I'm 5'11" 180lbs. I can tell you that after the chair came in I was thinking no way in hell is this going to work but I was really surprised how stable it felt. I launched without my gear first and paddled around, rocked it back and forth, just got the feel for it. I didn't alter anything in the boat so I can still use my factory seat depending on what kind of water or conditions I'm in. I have only been out in it once, I'll post again if I end up not liking it. So far so good.

Maybe it's just me but it seems like the paddling would be awkward having to reach down that far to paddle. I'd get even more soaked than I already do from the water dripping off my paddle at such a high angle.

So I bought a three pack of rocket launchers for my milk crate. Seems they come apart from there base. This leaves a pretty useful catch all. Bought them from Academy.

Looks good man. Have you been out in it with the raised seat?

Thanks. I have been out in it. I like it. Center of gravity is higher for sure.

I put the high seat to the test this past weekend at Ray Roberts and I'm confident now that I won't go back to the low seat. We got caught in the heaviest chop and wind that I've ever been in and I never felt like I was going to turtle. I don't know if it's because of my size or because the kayak is pretty stable but it worked really well in bad conditions. Now in a river with some current, may be a different story.

How big are you RobMoe? If you don't mind me asking. ***EDIT: Just saw above where you said your size*** Only reason I ask is I am bigger guy and have been hesitant about raising my seat. Mt center of gravity is high enough if you know what im saying!

I think at the price point of this kayak you can't find one as stable. It is a tank compared to my buddies kayaks. Speed is not something that this kayak excells in, but without the wind hitting me I can get it moving. The higher seat actually allows me to paddle more comfortably. I have a longer paddle than I think I needed for the factory seat but it came in handy once I added the turkey chair. We should all have a fs12t day out in the water sometime. If we can plan something out you should paddle mine around (minus my gear ) to see if you like it.

All right, random question. I bought the FS12T package from Bass Pro - and they let me take this floor display since it takes 2 weeks plus to get these in apparently. Long story short, the batter for the fish finder is dead - is there any way to jump these 12v batteries? My 12v charger won't charge when less than 3v.

Oh, and here's mine right now - still working on the trailer/yak. Going to be installing my anchor trolley this weekend.

You should be able to charge it up. I've had my battery completely die while out on the water for a second day. As long as you have the 12v charger. Mine takes a good 5 or 6 hours on the charger though. BTW, I really like that color scheme, looks good man.

I'm going to run by Mariner Sails for a new charger sometime this weekend. The whole point to a charger is to charge a dead battery - the "safety" feature on mine won't charge if the battery is too low. Pretty pointless, but someone recommended Mariner Sails. I have one battery that still has juice...might have to steal it from the old ball and chain if we wake up and the weather isn't [censored].
