Sure can't worry about the price of fuel. But are you also including the practice trips to all the lakes? LOL

No, I don't.

But I do go to a lot of the events. My favorite are events that have water similar to what we fish everyday here in NE Texas.

Unfortunately, this schedule doesn't have any of that, as the rumor mill suggested.

I get that but we also have to realize that there are other areas of the country that enjoy these events as much as we do. I think BASS will continue to change up like this each year.

I agree. However, I have a buddy that lived in Arizona and fished Lake Havasu and he said that the smallmouth there are big, mean, and eager to bite. He said the smallmouth/largemouth percentage is 65% smallmouth, 35% largemouth. I look forward to this tournament as well as Guntersville and Kentucky Lake. Kentucky Lake at that time of year can be great!

This^^

BASS is in the business of hosting events and part of that is getting paid to go to host locations. They have full time staff working with Lake Associations, CVB's, Chambers, etc to find host locations each year. There are a large number of factors that affect what host locations are chosen but certainly one of the biggest drivers is the host fee and that associated revenue.

Sure there are hundreds of great lake options all over the country but the list of those lakes that have a local entity willing to assist with host fees and the facilities necessary to host an Elite series event are very short. It's not as simple as saying "let's go to Rayburn". In all actuality the quality of the fishery is probably not even in the top two priorities.

And just as excited as we are to attend Texas events, so are the other locations. I've watched the last few years as those out West have complained that BASS was ignoring them and their fisheries. It actually has nothing to do with that. When someone's ready and capable of hosting a BASS event they normally let them know and begin that dialogue related to fees/facilities etc.

Simple deal. Have a good lake, good facilities and money to spend and they're en route. That's the business of it.

I'd pick Dean Rojas.

Not even a good lake really..... Just the facilities, a bank roll and a list of eager people excited about the event.

I mean, we are headed back to Orange again? Enough said.

As a purist, I was hoping for a traditional Texas lake.

Maybe next year.

That Sabine River, where it dumps into the Gulf.

You know..... Ocean liners, intercostal canals, swamp lands, etc.

Duh.....
