I'll attempt to explain..
in order to compare Apples to Apples, just look at these 2 units:
HDS 7 Non Touch w/ SS ( inc BOTH transducers: SS and 2D, plus the StructureScan box ) $1299
HDS 7 Touch w/ SS ( includes BOTH transducers, but the SS box isn't needed because it's 'built into" the TOUCH unit ) $1399
So, for $100 more you get TOUCH and don't have to mess with setting up the SS Box.
The other options that don't include StructureScan means they can still DO SS but the structurescan transducer is NOT included.. ie.. like adding a 2nd unit to your boat.
Hope this helps..
Jeff

Have Gen 1 HDS 8 and HDS 7 with structure scan linked on my boat. The unit at the console not picking up structure scan, water temp and looks like a very weak signal on the regular sonar. Unit at the bow working fine. Checked the connections on the LSS unit and seems to be OK. Detached and reattached. Have switched units (i.e., tried the 8 at the bow) and whichever unit is at the console doesn't work well at all. Any idea why? Thanks.

Hello guys, New to StructureScan and need some advise. What will cause the "streak" marks on the images below?

Ife, it might be prop wash/turbulance.

Ife, it might be prop wash/turbulance. I have it mounted similar to this LSS x-ducer. Any ideas how to minimize prop wash/turbulence?

After seeing the pic it could be turbulance from the hull itself, there will be a lot of water movement there to contend with. How to fix it? I haven't a clue.

Looks like you have a Ranger Boat Ive gout mine mounted to the right of where you have yours mounted and I get a nice picture. I don't have that bracket that you have mounted mine to the hull. Im sure that you also know that you have to go into your settings and flip your transducer's left to right.

I do have the Left/Right graph setting switched also. Thanks for that tip.. I did some adjustments, but need to find time to get on the water and check. With a bathroom and bedroom remodel, work and family activities I've barely had time to take my boat out...

Looks like you were turning? Look the image was blurred all the way to the bottom. I get this when I'm turning.

Why do you have to flip transducers left to right?
How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?
