I like to wade and bowfish.. I wonder how that would work on Falcon? I'm sure it wouldn't be too good for gar, but I'm mostly a carp slayer.

I had a friend down there last month and they took out over 50 grass carp in one day. Doing the world a service in my mind.

you wont believe how many carp you can get wading in falcon lake, as long there is NO CLOUDS youll have a blast, just look for spots away from people that are bank fishing and you should find plenty.

Thank you everyone for the positive comments! thumb You can wade and bow fish there, recently though, it has been super windy stirring the lake up where visibility is minimal. All of those fish were taken at night minus the smaller gar I'm holdin with one hand. He was taken drift fishing main channels. Does anyone know of a way to prepare the grass carp to eat? I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to wild game. The gar was great. I prepared steaks, fried, and gar cakes from it. LOTS of meat. Basically 2 giant backstraps. And James a @ Falcon Lake Tackle appreciated the effort to kill a lot of gar. LOL

Grass carp are supposed to be like giant talipa I would grill one of those giant felts scales on like a red fish with lemon and pepper.

Grass carp are barely related to common carp, the meat it supposed to be firm and bright white.

Just remember the 1 alligator gar a day bag limit.
