Is it even possible to clean the dark build up on the toons? Tried pressure washing but it did absolutely nothing.
How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

Yes-- But the only thing I found to work both good and easy was from NAPA auto parts. Let me see if can find my pics of how it works-

Here you go-- You can see the difference at the back of my logs-- This is from simply spraying on, waiting about a minute and washing it off with my garden hose in the driveway. Its that easy but the only brand that worked for me was the Napa brand Aluminum Brightener. Its not spotless but this is with no scrubbing, just spray on and wash off.

Nice. That's a big difference. I will definitely go out and get some. Do you know anything that will make it spotless? Once in a great while I might give it a good scrub.

Spotless? Sure, get ready to sweat like Elton John at the playboy mansion..
Get you a buffer, green magic or other metal polish. Get to work. Shine like a mirror. Four hours later.
Then you can do it again in a month.

If you wanted them polished it could be done to last longer than 4 hours. Just would need to take a rouge wheel and brown clay rouge block to it followed by green clay. Then buff with metal polish of your choice, very labor intensive

I think I will just go with option A. Spray then rinse

if you want to polish them and have it last I make a mix that will do it all in one with a random orbit buffer.
used it on my semi wheels and they lasted most of the winter easy, and a little of this goes a long way.

Hop the process I stated is how all the aluminum on big rigs gets polished wheels, tanks, and bumpers. I wish I had a big compressor at home I could make good money refinishing aluminum and stainless.

I wish I had a big compressor at home I could make good money refinishing aluminum and stainless. they use that (called alumbrite) at blue beacon truck wash and other places. he could just take the boat to a blue beacon and get the toons cleaned pretty good, for a price. what I make is for after the alumabrite, it is a polish/wax compound and puts one mean shine on aluminum, high speed buffer is best but a random orbit for those not used to a high speed.

Do a web search for Sharkhide. That will keep your clean-up permanent.

Hop this is what I'm talking about it will remove minor scratches and really starts.the.polishing process different colors are like different grits in sandpaper and some are for different metals. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001Q4ZTPK?pc_redir=1408124940&robot_redir=1Another option if your wanting to keep the natural finish would be getting some citral cleaner and a some scotch BRITE pads you soak the toons in a section small enough to work before it dries and work with the grain.of the metal it will take any oxidation out and not real labor intensive. That will leave some minor scratches in the aluminum if you don't like the look of that you can go back over it with 3000 grit foam sand pad

Here is mine done with the NAPA Aluminum Brightener The stuff works really well but it does take the shine away and it looks like you applied a thin coat of white paint. Compare the top of the pontoon on the untreated side with the side that was done. Here is the whole thing done. Looks much better than before and was very easy to do.
