My daughter goes to school at SFA and we've talked about fishing this lake. Is it like Toledo Bend when you get of the boat lanes is it stump city? Are there boat lanes or can you run wherever you want to? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

There are no marked boat lanes there. It's is pretty open on the end where the dam is however once you get past the power lines it's gets a little stumpy and more so the further you go back. Good places to fish on both ends of the lake I go and sometimes never even get past the power line

Very stumpy on the southeast and southwest. The locals probably know the places to run but I putt along most everywhere I go on that lake.

NOTE: This response wrongly offered for Naconiche, it is not about Nacogdoches. Leaving it here for the pretty pictures. blush

Not exactly a fishing report... Not trying to be a pain, but this is the reports section, not really meant for questions.

Have fished there a time or two. Ran on plane from the ramp to the dam and around the dam area. But to be honest most of the lake had lots and lots of standing timber last time I was there. Enough that I didn't tempt running much of anywhere on plane. All of Telesco creek to the Southwest of the ramp is full of timber. The whole upper end from the ramp north along Naconiche creek is very heavily timbered. The main from the ramp East to the power lines and dam likely has some sleepers waiting in it, but we didn't find them, nor run on plane a whole lot trying.

Here's some pics of what I mean by standing timber. None of them mine...all publicly posted on the web by others:

Nice pictures of Naconiche but Kev-o was asking about Nacogdoches. Even if this is the Fishing Reports section. By the way, there are NOT enough fishing reports in the Fishing Reports Section.

As said above from the dam to the power lines its open, good fishing to the left of the ramp. Lots of jet skis, wake boats make it hard to fish. Of the two lakes Naconiche would be the better lake to fish IMHO.

I am not making any decisions until the bourbon kicks in!

I never see ANY reports for my local lakes, unless I am the guy writing them. Sucks, cause I know a couple of lakes pretty well, but I know there are better anglers than me out there. I will never understand the aversion to sharing reports. I can go to the same hole and try the same tactic from the day before and fail miserably. So why people won't share general lake conditions, tactics, types of cover, and results in a report is beyond me. I share the good, the bad, and the ugly from our trips too. Even the bad reports can offer learnings. Now all I need to do is figure out how to go more often like I used to... thumb
