Tommy's price is 21 bucks a gallon, I did not mean to state the 2k was his bulk price. Not sure what his bulk price is.

Is ok to run Premium Plus in a optimax 250 Pro XS ?>? I thought you should run DFI -- or is Prem Plus the same oil ? There is some good reading on BBC - Mercury motors......About what Mercury says.. The way I understand it they went from recommending premium plus to the DFI oil a few years back--- because of the extra additives in it to combat carbon deposits when running at lower rpms..However they still recommend running the Premium plus in the motors coming from Mercury racing like my 300XS... So I think you should be just fine with the premium plus unless you do a LOT of lower rpm running... JMO

My mechanic told me to use DFI and it is not the same as Premium Plus. But he also told me in a pinch you could use it if you had to. But for long life use the full synthetic DFI. Premium Plus is a blend.

Is there much difference in the cost per gal., if you buy bulk. Like Tommy sells. Have bought Yamalube from him for years.. all ways has a good price; Think I heard :you should not mix DFI & Prem + :: Go with one and stay with it..Might have some chem reaction mixing them;; any thing out on that?

My paper work on 2013 pro XS say DFI only,, I ask dealer about it and he said if something was to happen that a Oil test would be first thing Mercury would have them check and make sure I was running DFI oil and if not it would Void the Warrenty... So I will run the DFI at least 5 yrs

Not sure where some of the myths get started.. So long as you are using ANY brand of oil that meets the Current NMMA certified TC-W3 2-cycle standards......In a 2 stroke motor.. no mater who makes it.. Mercury - OMC - Yamaha... They can not void a warranty.... Granted they all try and push there brand, as in most cases it probably is the best oil for that application.. However it has been proven in court---- the only way they can do that is if they furnish the oil.

You can buy and run ANY TC-W3 2-cycle oil without any worries to your warrantee...period. Mercury has gone back and forth about what they recommend but have 100% recommended Mercury DFI oil for several years now due to the cleaning additives. Surprise, they recommend their own oil but it answers the question about which MERCURY oil to buy.
