Happykamper is pulling your leg. I have only fished the lake for 30 years! Formula462, where are you staying while you are here?

Not exactly sure, my girlfriend made the arrangements its a luxury cabin, I think just outside of the state park.
I believe near the south end or dam if you will but I can find out.

Wife and I were on the lake from 6-3 last Sunday. We started out looking for walleye on the humps and around the islands on the south end of the lake. We graphed a bunch of these areas and each held a few fish but not what we were looking for. About 10:00 we stopped in the marina and talked to a young man working there, he told us he had been fishing on the upper end of the lake around Holley creek and catching schooling bass. We ran up to north Holley and sure enough 12-16" blacks and Kentucky's were schooling. Had a blast, didn't catch any big ones, about 3# was the biggest but had fun and kept he wife entertained. I posted about it on here and someone said the walleye don't bite good in the daytime this time of year due to the sun being so bright. They said march and April are the best months for walleye.
We were catching the bass on shad colored deep little n crank baits.
Already itching to go back.
Good luck and enjoy the beauty. Watching the sun rise over the mountains and the peacefulness of you being the only one on the lake is worth the price of admission.

I would check out the mouth of creeks and check out schooling fish. We are getting a lot of rain Thursday and Friday. Check out the back of creeks and fish the new water running into the lake. Give me a look next time. You can see my cabins at deercrkretreat.com.

Crappie are still biting good. Bass bite is sporatic. Walleye this time of year will probably be best at night or trolling bandit cranks around during the day might get a few. I'll be there guiding some crappie trips Sat. and Sunday.

Ok, we just reserved a cabin at Deer Creek Retreat for Monday- Thursday next week. largemouthokie fixed us up.
I just couldn't stand it any more. I needed to get away for awhile and could think of a better place to do it.
Gonna try my hand at some trout fishing in the river, may even hire Steve Branson the trout guide to put us on some.
Also looking to do some bass and crappie fishing on the lake.
Cant wait, guess I'll just have to fish Fork this weekend to get warmed up.
