I love every season of the year but I really do get tired of the way fishing shows disappear in the Summer. It's bad enough that hunting shows dominate in other seasons, but the Summer is terrible. I have been told that the reason fishing shows disappear in the Summer is because people are fishing and don't watch them. Then why are hunting shows on 365 days a year?

Like I have said before; I have nothing against hunting, hunters, guns, etc. Quite the opposite in reality. I strongly support them. There are more registered fishermen in the US than hunters. Why do hunting TV shows so greatly outnumber fishing shows? I guess I should follow the money.

I'm glad I am not the only one who wants to watch fishing in the summer. I too have nothing against hunting, in fact I would hunt if I could afford it.

I like watching fishing shows too but as you say they are going away . I like Bill Dance when I get a chance when he's on , Jimmy Houston isn't too bad but he fishes all around now not just for bass . There was another I use to like but he got to where he talked more than fish . He was a big family man and that's ok but 5 mins fishing and 15 mins commercials and and 10 mins on family . Even the BassMaster shows are not the same here . They have about 10 mins fishing , 15 mins comercials and 5 mins showing what they caught . I use to catch some Fly fishing shows that were real good but seems they are gone too .

I have 14 fishing shows in my DVR queue. The only thing recording for me these days is Bill Dance, Honey Hole and SW Outdoors Report. No Fish Commandos, Byron Velvick, that goob Mark Zona, Hook-n-Look etc.

I do enjoy Major League Fishing. I think it is an entertaining format to do a fishing show. It also sucks there are only reruns of Spanish Fly now. RIP Jose Wejebe.

I like watching Shaw Grigsby he is the only one I can think of who got skunked and aired the show anyway. Bill Dance and Hank Parker are good too.

I recently changed my cable package and it now includes the Outdoor Channel. After watching it for about a month, I have concluded I may be the only person in America that doesn't have a hunting show on that channel.

Hey moonriver - do you ever actually contribute to a post or even create a useful post? I went back and looked at your post history. All I see is your repeated use of emoticons.

Hunting shows are shown in the summer because the vast majority are filmed in the fall/winter (except the stupid turkey hunting shows).

Fishing shows are shown in the fall/winter because they are filmed in the spring/summer.

Finally, why are there more of one than the other? Ratings. The networks show what sells advertising the best.

Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

If you have Drect TV, channel 286 has a few fishing shows on Sat. and Sun. starting about 6am. NBC channel 220,also has a few including FLW. Seems they either show them in the afternoon or around midnight. I try to DVR as many as I can.
