All I have to say is just look under the hood at all three. K.I.S.S! I can point to every part attached to the Cummins engine. Ford and GM....uh....there's just a bunch of stuff crammed under those hoods!! Have fun working on that! The 5.9 Cummins has been around since Dodge started putting a diesel in their trucks. Ford and GM don't seem to get it.

I have the duramax diesel and standard the warranty is 100,000 miles and I dont work on my own vehicles.... I quit doing that before I got out of college.... All engines are getting more and more advanced and with the coming emission regulations which are getting stricter every year, all mfrs, will have to go to electronically controlled engines ... all have their strong points, buy and drive what you like and feel meets your needs the best, for me based on ride, economy and towing power it's the Chevy...

if you used a ford body cummins motor allison trans that could haul anything pull anything and also the work crew would be happy. i would go chevy only if it is a duramax. or ford 7.3L powerstroke.

Personally, I think a diesel is the only way to go. I have a 05 chevy CC duramax and couldn't be happier. Over kill for anything I pull but currently no one puts a diesel in a half ton so no other choice.

It's my daily driver in DFW and I consistently get 17mpg around town with 285 tires, a heavy foot and heavy traffic. I average above 20 on the straights depending on the wind, and as high as 22+. With EFILive power is almost what ever you want. Hemi what?

Don't forget about the bio-diesel options that are growing almost daily. My dmax runs great on 0-100% of bio, very cool!

I own an 03 F250 with the 6.0. I guess I got one of the "good" early 6.0's. I have a 4" Pro Com lift with 35" tires and run a Super Tuner Programmer. I run Rotella 5-40w full synthetic and have kept the stock air filter, which is the best on the market. I now have 65,000 trouble free miles. I get around 14 in town and 16.5 on the highway, and about 14.5 towing my 18'3 Skeeter. I figure I am loosing at least 2 mpg with the lift and tires but she sure is pretty going down the road and I enjoy getting all the compliments. I think Ford is coming out with a 6.7 twin turbo for 07 so you may check into that also. I looked at all three manufactures and I know that the Cummins is a great engine, but I just don't see the quality like I do with the Ford and Chevy. I think the Ford is the best looking truck out there and my 6.0 is quiet for a diesel. Good luck with you search.

If the phone doesn't ring, it's me. I'm still fishin!

Yellow Cat and JonBoater why would you compare the the HEMI to diesel engines. What better enging does Ford or Chevy have that runs on regular Gass?

This about sums it up.

It's really about what you like. Dodge, Chevorlet, Ford. They are all pretty good choices. As long as you maintain them properly they will last a long time.
