Thanks all. Truth be told, I was with my 7 yr old son and we were looking for sand bass schooling which is easy fishing for him. The sandies weren't biting so I went to check out the brush piles for crappie and looking to see if I could locate some larger black bass feeding on some of the bait hanging around ( I mainly fish for black bass ) but when I found these, I ended up catching 12 keepers and probably another 20 unders. My graph is a Lowrance HDS 9 w structurescan.
If you happen to be on Ray Roberts and see a silver Skeeter w red/white stripe come say hi and I'll share the spot. These brush piles are big enough to support 2-3 boats.

Another thing that helps me is I also eliminate the top 5 or 10 of the water column depending on the depth I am scanning. It blows the DI image up and you can really see more detail and seperation. Its like zoom. You just adjust the minimum depth feature

This is great. I have an HDS5 and have never seen detail like this. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to put these graphs on so we can learn. What kind and what size unit do I need to get to be able to see detail like this?

Does it look like my unit is set up right? Besides no water temp reading?.. Installed the HDS Gen2 Touch 7 yesterday and got on the lake today. I recognize the rocks and columns and trees but it seem a bit cluttered. Any suggestions and info would be greatly appreciated. This one seems like its showing to much to me and that is what i mean about the clutter. What is this?? Not sure what this is but it looks like a bunch of fish under that arch?... Help me please!

Just got a HDS7 Touch and an Elite 7 HDI so I went out to Lewisville yesterday to do some brush hunting. I am still learning the units but like the results so far. You can even see where the one bamboo bucket is laying on it's side. Any guesses what this is? All these pics were taken from my cell phone. Need to learn how to log the sonar and capture actual screen shots. Man I love these units. For Screenshots Hold down the Power key and the Pages key at the same time for a couple seconds and watch on the screen. It will say screenshot captured. You can then tranfer them you your sd card and put them on your computer.
