Just a quick note to everyone who has contributed graph shots to this thread, especially those who added insight in text or graphics explaining what they're seeing in them. This thread has helped me tremendously!

I have a 998C HD SI. I find the down imaging is very poor at providiing enought detail to see fish in piles. I generally blow up the SI image to find the fish. For me, looking for fish shadows is the only way I can determine if there are fish in the trees or not. Pile stacked with crappie, mostly 9-11" fish: Crappie pulled off that pile:

Would you guys please do me a favor and put what kind of electronics you have on your post. I have just recently gotten down and side imaging on my HDS 7 and see what you are seeing, but don't know what it is.

Pile stacked with crappie, mostly 9-11" fish: Crappie pulled off that pile: Hook, increase your DI sensitivity to 15 to 17 and your contrast setting around 7 and you should see the DI white dots, better than on your SI. That is the best settings for me anyhow.

Thanks! Will try that out. It's always bothered me, but since I like the SI image, never spent much time playing with DI.

Can someone on here tell me how to to take a sreen capture with the new Lowrance Gen 2 Touch Units.I have a Hds7& Hds 12 also. I know on the Elite 5 dsi you have to press the power key and + key simultaineously top take a screen shot but on the Gen2`s it doesn't work like that.I was out on JP the other day getting BP coord . I found 4 BP`s but couldn't take any Pictures because I didn`t know how.
