Day 4. Got gas running now. Thought it would make big improvements. Nope. Well, less splatter for sure. The wire feeding is starting to piss me off. The wire ( .035) feeds great until it hits the metal initially. I don't think its hot enough so it stops feeding. It feeds in 1" sections until it gets going. Turning the wire speed up doesn't help. Turning it down doesn't either. Farted around and welded up some tubes together. Did some more rows. I'll keep at it.

Is that a .3 megapixel camera you're using?

Welds are looking better. Try welding clean metal instead of stuff that has been painted (grind paint off it).

My blackberry takes good pictures but it didn't want to focus on ugly for some reason.

I'll clean some up tomorrow when I get after it again.

The wire feed should be a steady speed. Check the feeder part that clamps onto the wire, might need to be tightened so the wire doesn't slip.

Use good wire, make sure it is clean. Also, grind off that paint. Looking better.

I'd like to see some updates. You definitely see some significant improvements over just the first few days. Wonder if he kept at it.

I'm pretty sure Chickenman had another welding thread that was just as entertaining but I can't remember what it was he built that time. Nickbyrd also had a weld project that was utterly beautiful.
