TarponFly: For variety I leave Cedar Creek each year and fish other Texas lakes for white bass. I have never fished Lavon, but am considering it this month. I understand there is a submerged RR roadbed and trestle there. Is the trestle actually in tact or was it dynamited when the lake was made. I ask because I have a lot of experience fishing submerged bridges. They are white bass magnets - feeding off the shad which feed on the algae on the hard bridge surfaces - if the depth and water clarity allow for it. At Lake Livingston the bridge depths are 10 to 14 fow and fishing is great. What can you tell me about the trestle depths and would you recommend I come in August. Note, I'm not afraid of a challenge and would come even if it's difficult.

We have 15 humps. Closest one to the point in the pic is where the tracks start. On DI and SI u can see the tracks and the wooden beams. Every so often u will snag into them. They travel the humps for about 500 yards and then disappear. Last year in May, they stacked up here for a month. I would be home before the wife would wake up to go to work. As fast as u could drop a slab, u were hooked up. Five jigs = 5 fish. It was fun. Now they are still moving up on Hybrid Point to feed AM and PM. As with most lakes, they are not on a 100% pattern.n80% of the days we to we limit or we just don't find them. Very odd year. If a thermocline happens, it's game on.

Hybrid Point. Got there at 630pm and they were on a ridge in 9 ft pushing shad up on the flat. For 45 mins we slabbed up doubles every drop. Boated over 300 plus. Not one throw back. Then they push up to the bank in 6 inches of water and went crazy. Boiled and slashed around for another hour. Threw top waters for 45 mins and only caught 13-15 inchers. Color didn't matter. Or size. They would hit everything that landed near them. First major schooling action in two months.

How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

Awesome Carey! You got a new radio yet? Haha, kidding... well, kind of... Glad you are back on the home lake and slaying them. Since Friday is my birthday I might just have to take off and hit the water...

That's a massive haul. I've yet to experience that kind of action.

Went out Friday and Saturday, caught a few fish here and there off of Hybrid Point and Lavonia (more off Lavonia).
They were mostly in shallow water, I could never actually graph the schools or stay on them. Friday the wife and my daughter came out for a quick boat ride. Saturday friends came out to ski, so only fished for about 3 hours in the morning each day.
Ended up with about 10 keepers both days. Sorry for short report, busy with family in town. Birds working sporadically but no topwater schooling that I saw. All fish caught in <10FOW on slabs Friday and most on a cast and retrieve #4 Mepp's or silver crank on Saturday.

I just walked into the house from Cozumel. ( didn't even cast a line out- bet u didn't think that would happen.)
I'll be out there tomorrow to see what's going on. Probably hybrid point should be kicking. Or somewhere around the island.
