I think Brett said it best a year or more ago on here when he talked about how he relized he was spending too much time away from his wife, so he sold his boat and all his tackle to spend more time with her, I believe he advised you to do the same, and buy your significant other a nice Mercedes or something.

Sometimes we have to realize what's more important in life and give up the fishing

I followed this advice as well, I no longer even own a cane pole and all is good in the world.

If you're not married to her, you need to turn about face and run, Forest, run.

I fish because I have always fished. That's what I do. I work because I have to. I am very lucky to have the job that I do to fish on weekdays occasionally. I am blessed!!

As was said earlier. I fish simply because I love to fish. I am lucky I guess as I figure I got a pretty good life so I don't have much I need or want to run away from. Been through enough bad times to know that they will pass eventually so I like to focus on the positive things in life. Learned a lot about living from the things I have seen at my job.

I think fishing is intrinsic, especially growing up with it. My "excuse" is I work from home, so I need to get away from house and outdoors. Also provides a competitive, gambling, and speed fix.

I fish, therefore I am.

Gotta admit... when the stars align and it's perfect catching. Makes memories most folks never forget.

That's pretty drastic. You're a romantic smile. But if it made you happier then it was the right decision.

I'm not new to fishing, or forums, but I'm new to fishing forums.

Just trying to gain knowledge from being gone from the sport for about 15 years. Did I miss anything?

I fish because in all honesty I have to, I believe it is part of my genetic make up. At 56 years old, all of the motorcycle, car and jeep wrecks have taken there toll. I hurt a lot more than I will admit most days, I try not to give the pain dominion over me. When I am on the water, I seldom even notice the aches and pains. I feel as natural on the water as the fish do in the water.

On the other hand I hunt because I enjoy it, the peace of being alone in a tree stand watching nature unfold as the dark forest floor comes alive from the rising sun. Just me, my bow and all of nature orchestrating before me.

When I tournament fish all the world around me no longer exist, I focus hard and try to get into the zone.

When I hunt, that is when I have a lot of time for reflection. That is when I can work out some things. That is when I feel closest to my Heavenly Father.

I've been doing it all my life........simply for the love of it.... nothing else

I think it's in my blood also.... Hunting and fishing has always been my passion. I can't help it, I'm addicted. Honestly it eats at my bones. Been doing both since I was in diapers. My wife's knows how much it means to me. I have a 3 year old boy and I think she wants the same for for him, it's funny how some men pick up on fishing and hunting and get hooked. I never had a chance, I was born with a gun and pole in my hand..... Being part of the outdoors will never leave me.

It would be very difficult to fish knowing I had a problem.

I gotta be honest. I don't fish to hide any problems. I enjoy the hell outta going out there, not thinking about a damn thing, and waiting to feel that "tick" on the other end of the line. I'd like to think I don't have any problems for now.... Awesome wife who supports me fishing, great kids, good job..... I also enjoy the competition.
