Hey guys I am thinking about planning a trip to do some different kind of fishing and thought I'd get some advise on a few of my questions. Ill be going for 3 days and wanna find a spot I can pull onto the beach and camp for a weekend, once I find that spot that's where I'll be fishing. I was looking at weather conditions for the weekend and show to have 12 MPH winds and chance of rain in Galveston, would that be suitable winds to go out and enjoy myself? As far for what I'm targeting ill have to look up what's legal to catch right now so if anyone has a link for rule and regulations on salt water that would be perfect! Thanks guys for any advise y'all can share!

What would you wanna catch? Rays, shark, cats....tons of fish from the beach. Kayaking solo in the salt is dangerous and there is saftey equip you should have first...vhf, flairs etc. That said salty water is amazing and some of the most fun you can have.

A castnet there will do you good. Mullet from the beach is a solid bait...kinda like shad here.

Ill be with a buddy. Sweet I have a few nets ill bring, cut mullet like shad or keep alive? I think I'm leaning more towards port aransas then Galveston, has cheaper camping. I don't care really what to target, I'd really like to get on a king but anything with a fight will do for me.

Just got back from Crystal beach a couple weeks ago and there was a few people catching specs and flounder in east bay. Put in at Stingaree's and cross the intercoastal waterway and you are in east bay area. You can camp and drive right on the beach there and I think it's only a 10 dollar permit for the year. Learned while I was there that live bait was the key.

Was in Port Aransas Friday-Saturday. Fished PINS on Friday morning and Mustang Island on Saturday. We caught a few kings, snapper and little tunny from the yaks, saw many turtles, porpoises and sharks, saw a manta ray free jump. Water is beautifully clear...at least 12 feet of visibility at the rigs a few miles off the beach. Wish I was still there...

Awsome! When y'all are out there fishing do you anchor up or just kinda drift?

I think anchoring is lime bank fishing. You wait on a fish to find your bait. Stay moving imo.
