Looking like a hybrid variety too me...tell that young lady she caught a nice fish...maybe you need to catch/cull some more of the hybrids and allow the white crappie to grow up!

Ignorance is bliss, I had no idea that might be a trophy! I raise cattle and we have 4 tanks on this place and we have had it for 4 years and I have never fished them. I was watching the bass leaping out of the water one day and thought I'd try it out. Now I bring a pole everyday when I check the cattle. My friends son is holding a Bass caught out of the same tank caught a few weeks ago.

My ol' buddy out in Albany that managed a ranch called it pond management when we used to fish the tanks on the ranch. cheers

I would catch and release only, unless you get too many of 1 species and they get stunted. Way too easy to catch out a small body of water.
Doesn't appear you currently have that issue.
