I throw a higher speed reel on these rods so I do not throw a 10XD on them regularly, though I did throw on on it at Monti back in Jan and it handled it, just a little more work with the reel I have on them.

I throw a 10XD on a Irod 7'11" cranking rod with a 5:4.1 reel.

This rod will do it all for your cranking needs. If you want a little more length there new XLC-3-7'11 is a awesome deep diving cranking rod.
